    That's bullshit.

This is one of the primary reasons the old Marketplace forum is gone. Too many people either failed to read the posting guidelines (which stated "please read before posting in the Marketplace forum") or they ignored them.

I was one of the first to support the new style and yes the owner and the mods should be the ones to make decisions...they are the ones doing the heavy lifting. If I am looking for something to buy I find it much easier to see what is available with the new format. So far as relying on other STRers on to do a bike or part reviews..it seems to me to be people justifying there own purchases. There is only a handful on this site I trust that will give a impartial review. Lee and the folks I ride with being at the top of that list. To get the real deal on bikes and parts I go to Tani and Brian at the Path.

In order to cleanup the number of pages a listing had, lots of bumps got deleted leaving only the latest bump. Some threads had bump after bump with no other replies for 2 pgs. Once a reply is posted after a bump post, why keep it? :?:

I have nothing against Mike Lord, but shouldn't retail shops go through site advertisements, like JensonUSA? Not a big deal, but any classified posting that seem like its from a shop makes me think of the online vs B&M debate. If I have to pay a premium and/or tax, there better be additional value in the product. I.e. - service, warranty, bringing it back for repairs, building a relationship, return policy, yada yada. Perhaps have a marking to show that it is a 3rd party vendor. Someone may find more value in it. I don't want the STR classifieds to turn into an ebayers dream, flooding the non-bike related site with cell phone accessories or something.

I hear ya! I am lazy as well and mostly log on at work when my concentration is gone (every 5 minutes). If it's not there it didn't happen.

I need to post something in the new classifieds but I am too lazy. Also paypal gives me troubles and it just makes me more tired.

i'm 40/60 on it. The new one is cool because it easy to find what you want. The old one was just way more active and had so much more stuff... so either way works for me...

    both work

I have successfully used both systems and have been successful in selling lots of parts. I know for a fact that the people that bought from me saved thousands of dollars collectively, and are happy with the deals. The only issue I see is the limited exposure my parts get on the classifieds vs the old marketplace. The hit count on old Marketplace threads would be in the hundreds in a matter of hours, the classifieds are nowhere close to as popular. Oh, and the last time I tried to relist my parts, I paid for an item, and it never relisted. I contacted the mods about the problem and have not received a reply, its been 3 weeks. Maybe $1.50 doesn't buy a response these days. lol.

Listen here are the facts you take all the polls you want until your blue in the face but this is a money making system now. Its like the airlines charging 15.00 per checked in luggage the airlines made a boat load of cash on this they are not going back to the old ways anytime soon. This is a money making deal and STR is not going to quick making money. I don't like being charged for my add but yet I don't fault STR for trying to make money off of me.

Its like the drug dealer giving the first tast for free then rest you have to pay for.

Really? I got NO PMs from either of you. Many here can verify that I answer my PMs in a timely manner.

ilya, I see 4 adds you have. Which item is in need of re-listing?

Chewy, not sure what to tell you. :?: I'd like to help, but I'm NOT an admin. We mods don't have as much access as you all think.

Ya, about that. I was more or less just giving STR a hard time, a buck fifty isn't a big deal and I wasn't going to say anything until I saw this interesting poll. I didn't PM anyone in particular, I used the "contact us" link and wrote an email regarding the problem. I now see that the xtr shifters are up for sale so its been fixed. I didn't get a reply to my email, so I thought they were still in limbo (paid for, but not listed). Sorry for the cheap shot. No hard feelings.

Sorry folks, it looks like the STR webmail system is down. Please use pm's until it's fixed.

Ilya, I'm not so sure your comment about views in the Marketplace vs the Classifieds is accurate. From what I can see, it's very comparable.
