I'm not looking to be a dick or question you. I just think we shouldn't "call-out," members of the site just for being active and participating in the community. Yes, I consider Charlie (Zerogravity) a friend-he's a stand-up person.
You and I probably have a bit in common.
I love the loop because I feel that it keeps inexperienced riders off the better/more fun trails. I'm not a fan of newbs. Honestly, if I could end people's interest in mtn. biking I would. I feel there are too many people interested and participating in biking/hiking/horse riding our local trails.
I have very little in common with other members of the board (atheist/anarchist/drinker/registered republican-log cabin-and devoted class warrior.)
But I love riding and love people. I refuse to allow my socio-political views to get in the way or my riding with intelligent, fun, talented people. I'm not here to make friends either but it has proven to be difficult on this site with soo many great people.

I realized that I have no effect on what other people do or ride. To me having less people interested in MTBing is the wrong approach. We need a voting block and numbers to battle upcoming efforts to make more areas a Wilderness Designation. Once you figure out where to ride where few others do you may change your opinion...check out high county San Gabs you will find very few out there.

To do a surfing analogy ( I surfed basically every day for 8-10 years. Yearly stints in Hawaii and obviously good waves is a rare
Commodity so can good EMPTY trails be. If you did anything remotely similar in surfing, showing up 40 people at a surf spot, you'd be blacklisted and have your ass handed to you shortly. On the other hand, I it keeps the newbies off the better trails, all the power to you. But my years in surfing tells me that those beginners will soon venture out and literally block better riders descent or ascent, and create potentially dangerous situations. Kind of the like the beginner surfer who's used to San O or sunset in LA, that all of a sudden sit deep in the line up at Blacks beach or PV secret spots on a massive swell and take off on a wave that he/she clearly have no business being on, thus creating a dangerous situation. Anyways. I'm glad people get to enjoy the loop, but I wouldn't want to see a roadie report about PCH everyday, or a San O surf report for that matter every day.

However, there is a hell if a lot more trails than good surf spots. I'm only here because I like biking and not to make enemies and maybe new up some cool people along the way. So fat I have 100% met ONLY nice people on the trails. I never know if they might be posting here or who they are though. But so far, all conversations have been mutually nice:)

Surfers have never been known to be accepting of new people in their local surf spots. I have not found that to be the case MTBing, most are very helpful and when you are broke down trail side almost alway offer to help. Good waves come along rarely it is alway a good day MTBing.

Maybe being on an on-line community about MTBing is a bad idea considering?

Jeez. Is it heckle the swede day. All I, my own personal point of view is, I never quite saw the attraction about the loop. I be the first one to say if I love a trail or the look of the trail, an the loop just ain't cutting it for me........am I allowed to have that opinion? I thought this was the land of the free, and to think I grew up in a socialist country.

you underestimate the loop, look hard enough and you find some fun drops, steep rollers, and some huge jumps

Stoke is stoke. How can anybody possibly have a problem with someone sharing their good time on a bike?

Have better things to do with your time? Then respect ours and move on.

Seen too many threads on a subject? The noob hasn't. We've all been there. Respect their status and move on.

Think the site is a joke? Respect yourself and move on.

Think there's hope? Stick around and contribute.

Posting solely to showcase how clever and hilarious you are on a site you despise merely highlights the opposite (tm).

Holy cr@p THIS IS F'N FUNNY!! A thread about placing a moratorium on talking about the Fully Loop on STR is bigger than any other thread I've ever seen about the Fully Loop. Pretty damn ironic don't you think!?

Hell, this thread might last 30 days!

Guys, the whole point of this thread was to accentuate than there has been a huge amount of redundant posting lately. We're deep enough in the thread that people probably aren't reading the whole thing anymore, so I want to reiterate: I have nothing against the trail, and ride it all the time myself. I have no problem with noobs, or noob rides, or anyone else that rides the loop.

I appreciate that most of the posting here has been constructive.

Aww.. I tried not to get sucked in, but the pull of 6 pages was too much to resist!

I've never ridden the Fully loop, but I know I would if I lived close by. Not sure I'd post about it, but I know I'd be out there testing myself and staying strong for weekend rides in the mountains. I used to do the same thing on the Rio Hondo and LA river trails when I lived in Downey.

Is it crowded? Probably at peak hours. But so are most places in OC. The STT can be crowded, too, but last night there was only one other rider (plus a stuck Jeep and 2 circling helicopters!?!). It's fairly easy to avoid crowds if you don't ride at the popular times. But the FL seems to be as much about socializing as it is about riding..

One of the coolest things about this thread has been the links to ultralight bike packing in the Rockies, Alaska and other places. The Fully Loop's ultimate revenge may be that it's the original training ground for future high mountain bike packers.

Well I have not read this whole thread so maybe this has been mentioned. Why not just start a new section? We have ride reports, trailhead and so on.... make a Fully Loop section! Have all fully posts there or moved there by some very buesy modoraters. For those of you that don't want to hear about the loop stay out of the fully section! To evryone else post away enjoy the loop and all it has to offer! Banning descussions of any riding area is a bad idea!

While on the subject I had a geat 25 mile ride on the loop just yesterday! First loop included the rosecrans water tower out and back with a near death roll on the way down. Live on Fullerton Loop!
