peta generally helps animals that are tortured or treated inhumanely (can you really be against that?)--specifically factory farming (remember swine flu?), fur farms, and animal testing.

I donno. I'm a big animal lover, a vegetarian, someone who feels about about trapping mice, and will occasionally shepherd an insect outside of my house instead of squishing it.

That said, WTF? PETA is freaking insane. I can get behind promoting vegetarianism and treating animals humanely, but PETA's gone off the deep end. I thought that "Sea Kittens" were the pinnacle of their stupidity, but they seem to have outdone themselves this time.

 

The fly was clearly in a 'no fly' zone. hehe...
That fly is lucky the secret service didn't get their hands on him...

I don't know how theyare taken seriously in the political world.

But withour PETA, we would never have half-naked women protesting against animal fur

 

(duh) regardless of PETA and their politics, you HAD to know that SOMEONE would have an issue with the death of a fly. Not only was "death" involved, but also an insane amount of attention to a friken fly--too many people like attention.

Animal rights group PETA officially jumped the shark on Friday, taking issue with the killing of a common house fly by US President Obama, calling it an, "executive insect execution".

In a separate statement posted on peta.org late Friday afternoon the animal rights group chastised PETA itself, "the inhumane use of sharks, or as we call them "sea doggies", as a metaphor for the decline of any show, star or entity must stop.
