Sigh.....at least it was peaceful on that last lap with the whole course to myself

Goal for next week: Beat myself. If I actually apply chain lube this time I think I have a chance #-o

I had a great time out there yesterday. Finished 9th in the SS class, I just can not spin like some of those guys. It is amazing how fast some peoples legs can go. The heat sucked and I just milked my one bottle of water for the entire time. Be back in a few weeks for more torture (I mean fun).

Thanks guys, we're posting up the course in the opposite direction next week, and looking forward to temps like summer of 2011; though these make for great beach weekend. Always fun to see the crew under the STR tent.

Mark your calendars, too, Tuesday, August 16 is Family Night again, bounce house, and tiny tikes bikes n trikes race!

I'm sure I'm not the only one that's noticed but these past two post break races, there have been substantially less people out there...anyone know why?...just curious.

I havent been to this race and always want to go. Whats the viewing area like? Is there a place to walk around a watch some racing? I would like to try this before the last race of the season so any tips would be great.
    Thx.
    Oh, great photos too!

    .
Yeah, its pretty viewer friendly...the home strech is a great spot but that's expected...you can see a lot of the course from the spectator area. Shop tents, component manufacturer tents, etc...stuff to see and real cool people. The place itself is pretty too. Would definitely come out and race...I'm glad I was talked into it :) haven't looked back!

I think its just the summer travel season...there's also a drop-off in people who think its too crowded...there was a small dip last year at this time too. It ended up rebounding for the last couple of weeks.

But really, when there's so many classes and so many of them have more than 20 in each, that's a better turnout than just about every weekend race in the country except for maybe the Wisconsin series underwritten by Trek.

And for the heat, while wearing a wicking lightweight base layer seems counterintuitive, my under-armour tank soaking wet acted like one giant air conditioner and the jersey didn't stick to the skin. Also, if you have a center-back pocket or something like that, a ziploc bag of ice will last for the entire hour. Sure, it might leak, but isn't that ice-cold dribble of water more comfortable than the warm dribble of sweat?

Super sorry, had a big hiccup in the loading process and had to delete and start over. The pics will be done loading by tomorrow - Because of the error I decided to throw a few freebies out there. Look for them tomorrow night!!!

Think I saw you out there. I crashed in pretty much that exact spot just 1 lap earlier. It sucks because you lose all of your energy when you crash through the sudden charge of adrenaline during the fall. Not only do you lose time on the ground, but the next 3 minutes you feel like 25% of your energy is just gone.

Also, I just read some of the initial OTH threads (didnt participate in the first round of 6) and found this!

I didnt realize people were that hard core. What if you can only get 3, or maybe 4 hours in? :?: Guess I have to choose between my marriage and job vs. OTH podium.

C'mon, You cant post something from the first race of the years' report with out posting the whole bit....

I do not agree with any of this. It probably helps alot but I dont think its the big deal. If you can spin, know a few things about racing and are willing to try to win, You should do good and have a great time doing it...
