    Hey!

So this is pretty simple, as the title says: what's you're opinion on the Kona Stinky? How does it perform?

Also, show me any other good, sexy DH bikes

My first full suspension bike was a used 2004 Kona Stinky, I loved the bike! Burly enough to launch off of anything I have the balls to hit but not a great climber. I would experience some brake jack so if I ever bought another one I would make sure it had the D.O.P.E. floating brake in the rear. Just my opinion. Here is a picture of me on it: (BTW, I weighed about 290 in this pic)

For a long time a Kona Stinky Deluxe was my only bike. I pedaled it on long rides, did shuttle rides on it, raced XC and downhill on it. If you have a chance to get a 2008 or earlier, you'll still be able to run a front D, and a granny ring. After 2008 Kona set them up as 1X9 or with a Hammer Shmidt.

I now have the Operater DH, set up with a Totem, KS seatpost, and 1X9. It's a little more rough to pedal around than my Stinky, mainly because of the slacker seat angle, and no granny. BUT, for an 8" travel bike, it pedals GREAT!

Had it for 2 days at Whistler. Worked fine for park riding. On the heavier side. Jumps well. Came with floating brake, so didn't experience brake stutter. One negative was that it felt like crap when I cased stuff.

But there are bunch of other good DH bikes out there these days. Go and try them out.

Darin has no need to turn. He only goes up or down. And quickly.

It does look like a sweet bike for a bike park. You must be an animal (or like punishment) if that's what you ride in the SA's!!

It's obvious you've never ridden with Maxwell... (^_-)d

And he has no need to turn; trails straighten out and bend to his will.

They don't call him " CRASH MAXWELL" because he can make it around turns.

Yeah, Kona went to a 31.6 post, so folks could start running the addjustables.

Now that you guys have blown up my ego, let's get back to the OP's original question. #-o8-[

Yeah man, the Stinky is a good all arounder. May weigh a bit much for some, but makes the ride down worth the work to get to it.

    Good luck with your search.

I highly recommend the stinky for Freeride and DH. I had a great time on mine when I owned it. I kinda wished I never sold it. It pedaled really well for what it was and it felt really stable in the air.
