Been wanting to do this again, and had the idea tossed at me a couple days ago when asked where I'd be riding for my bday.

    Start: Santa Ana Amtrak station
End: Downtown San Diego, return via Amtrak.

*might roll through Camp Pendleton so bring your id as usual*

It will be warm, as evidenced by the last 2 yrs.

Exact start time of somewhere around 7 to 730am? Its up to anyone else really.

See calendar for July 24 to RSVP.

    RSVP: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=2909&day=2010-7-24&c=2

    route: http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=26464

Hum. Sounds fun. I will be doing it in October for the MS ride again. You taking road bikes? I have to do on the Mountain Bike with road tires. Not sure I can keep up on the MB

Kind of out there but this does have my interest. Please keep me in the loop. I have a couple of friends who might join us. I'm doing the Amtrak a couple weeks after this anyways. BTW, how do we get back? Train?

Chewy and myself did this ride today on a whim. We ran into a small problem at the train on the way home. The train we were getting back on only held 3 bikes. There were 8 of us in line with bikes. Fortunately the Amtrak crew was able to put some of us in the overflow cabin, though it appeared they weren't too happy about doing so. I think we will have to limit this ride to 6 people, or have others wait for the next train.

I'm 90% sure I can do this. Can I meet you guys somewhere along the route (start of Old PCH maybe) or would that be too hard to coordinate?

Should not be a problem once DB figures out what time we are starting.

roll by 7:30am? earlier works for me, as it means we get home earlier or if we have a problem with the train.

FYI, we're going through Camp Pendleton. Bring your id.

I would love to do it but could not RSVP.

If there are some clydes that want to do it and don't want to be rushed, I will be their embassador if there is interest. Otherwise, what's a guy gotta do to get in on this sweet action?

I have been wanting to do this for a while now. Did it from san clamente a few months ago there and back just on a wim and the wind on the way home sucked! I am all for the train and the early start since we would get home earlier.

^come on out josh, we might have a decent sized group (more than 6) so I'm not sure how that's going to work with the train(s). we might have to split off into 2 groups 80 miles in.

The RSVP function isn't working right now.
