    Thread bump.

With the weather looking hot during the week (but cooling off for the weekend), the race in the Oaks this Saturday should be a chance to satisfy that speed addiction missing while Over the Hump is on break. And just think how much fun it will be bombing through those trails knowing that at least on the first loop, there won't be anyone lurking around the corner trying to climb up chutes, or descending coachwhip, or pointing at the deer in the distance on roadrunner. As everyone knows, the best time to ride/race the Oaks is in the morning, as the cool temps down low hold onto the last bits of fog in the morning as the sunlight hits the ridgelines...and coachwhip is in shade in the morning.

Remember, keeping these opportunities to race on some of our favorite trails in Orange County only happens with our support.

You can still sign up on race day starting at 6:30AM, if your plans are last minute.

I'll try to look like I know what I'm doing vs a look of panic.

No, it wasn't me. I've made it to a couple of those races so far, but I don't have those kind of skills ... or a cyclocross bike.

Will some of the other trails that are not part of the race course (ie Yucca, Bitches, Hawk, Grasshopper, Deer to Weir, etc) be open to the public during the race tomorrow?

Pretty much everything else should be open. From what I understand, the race route is designed to minimize trail closures, maximize access for all other users, and provide accessible rescue routes. I'd say come out and cheer on the racers tomorrow...the rock entry on top of chutes was well populated last year.

I was at IRP walking the dog tonight and saw Ron and a helper hard at work setting the race markers. The odd rain we had was enough to pack the dust a bit so trails are looking nice. See you in the morning!

Just registered for race #3 @ O'Neill. Should be a great course for people to bring their family and friends with 3-5 laps through the start/finish area depending on the category. There is also bleacher seating for right in front of the course. Should be an awesome event. Coming down Vista is a real hoot too!

Anyone have a Strava route for the Oneill course? I missed the pre-ride and heard the course is a little hard to nav in spots until you've actually run it.

ext group preride is listed as August 11 at 8am...the first pre-ride had something like 40 people.

Should be lots of volume on the loop by now.
