Going for the four-pack...can't think of a better Saturday (edit: Sunday is even better) than 60-90 minutes of racing.

Troll Food: spoke to on-site rangers after both Oaks and Whiting, day and week(s) after to find out if they'd gotten any negative feedback. They said no more than they get when they have trail running events or equestrian events in the parks. And it never hurts to give 'em a "Good Morning!" Or "Thanks!" when suffering past where they're stationed at a trail closure.

This race series is actually on Sunday (9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29) for the month of September, not Saturday.

    Cheers,

How about we leave from Cooks Corner and roll out at 8 AM? I ride a black Felt 29er - I'll hang out in front of Cooks.

We can head down the dirt path that parallels El Toro, cut over to Meadow Ridge Dr and Live Oak Canyon Trail, drop down Vista, head down to the start of the Enduro Stuff course - then do one full loop. Going to try to make it a 2 hour "easy" ride. If we finish the first loop early, may throw in another loop.

That's cool. I'll join you. I ride a black Niner Jet 9 RDO with a grey color fork. See you Saturday morning.

    Cheers,

Would it be OK if we moved this ride to start at 7 AM? I've got some pings requesting this but want to check with you first.

I am cool with starting at 7 instead of 8. It's better that way as it gets hot fast out there. I do have to let you and others know that I am pretty slow...

    Cheers,

I think you'll find that without the previous 40 miles under your belt, it's not that bad. Not easy, but it's only really tough for a short stretch near the top of the pavement and the first 20 yards of the dirt, but there's a nice flat recover stretch after. Then there's that short steep b***h of dirt section just before you get to Vista. Otherwise that route is full of fun and flow.

I prerode the race course last weekend. The climbing will be a challenge and the descents are mostly single track so It will be a challenge. Either way it should be a blast!!

Yeah, kinda sucked, I laged on getting my bike fixed. I just picked it up last night before they closed. No rear brake. I hit the road in stead.

Just saw this on the Enduro Stuff Events Website:

[h=3]UPDATE[/h]Unfortunately due to a lack of registration, we will be cancelling the O’Neill mini-series, BUT we will be holding one race at O’Neill Regional Park on Sunday, Sept. 29th. The Path Bike Shop Live Oak will be hosting a party after the race with FREE FOOD! Awards and raffle will be held at the shop. The Path Bike Shop is planning a special sale for this event with demo bikes.

Nuts. My wife was on the fence about racing one of the first races after getting bit by the OTH racing bug. But then again, its better to have one well-supported race than a few that aren't sustainable. Probably some OTH burnout. Too bad. Local racing is always easier (and some would say better) than the logistics/driving/daylong commitment that other races require.

I'm pretty sure when they were planning the mini-series the price was only $30 per race, now it's up to $55 for the one race. I'm still going to plan to go on the 29th. It's always fun to race new places and from what I've seen they do a good job of putting on races.
