If I can give you guys a suggestion......please leave your shovels at home.

Land managers just had a meeting, with recreation issues at the forefront of the meeting; and a primary topic that was brought up by every land managing agency in attendance was the continuous unauthorized trail modifications taking place all over.

There are too many examples being used in meetings that are gleaned off of these websites (some from STR) about the growing frequency of non-sanctioned work.

This is not just taking place in county or state areas, but in many city and HOA areas that are beginning to get a lot of attention.

Basically there needs to be permission obtained to do any trail work on any public area or private area like a HOA.

Please get permission before doing any work....otherwise in the long-run, it will backfire for our sport and may constitute justification to limit access.

Just go through the proper channels for any modifications.

    Thanks!

    UPDATE:
I will now be getting off work a little early, so I can be at the Albertson's parking lot at 4:10. We should meet there and figure out the parking/ possible shuttle situation.

Does this work for everybody else?

    So far we have:

    Gray
    Rockinthecasbah
    [email protected] (possibly)
    Bighit8 (possibly/ probably not)
    Bryguy17 (possibly)
    BigRedHit
    Chewyeti (possibly)
    bluefirepictures
    1nFocus

    Am I missing anyone?

I'm still undecided. ricky has my number, so if I'm not there call me and see if I'm actually coming.

Are you just gonna screw around in the play area? or maybe move down the hill a little for DH shots?

That is possible. It really depends upon how much gear we have to move/ stash. Good idea though.

cool everyone has there shovels and other implements of destruction ready right ??

Pretty sure we posted about doing some riding and photo's, every post doesn't need a land use preach in it. I appriciate the people that help out with land use issues, but posting in threads where we there has been no talk of any building/trail work at all is just annoying.

Building and trail work is better talked about in pm and text messeges anyways

actually, shovels are probably better talked about in pm's and text messages. some land managers know how to use the "internets".

    Please get the facts straight.

The OP made a clear comment in his original post to bring your "Shovels" which was brought to the attention of the land managers, which is why I posted my comment.

After that the OP edited his post to remove the shovel comment.

Several land managers picked up on it immediately and it was circulated as prime example of confirming biker issues in their parks. I'm seeing too many examples being circulated by land managers taken from posts on this and other sites.

Bottom line......all trail work needs to be approved by the agencies.

I know land use comments don't seem to sit well with some people here.....but when I sit in meetings and one of the options being discussed is the restriction or elimination of bikers from some areas in order to get a handle on biker problems......something needs to be said.

This is a very simple issue......all trail work needs to have approval of the managing agency for the specific area.
