I was in Beyond Bikes yesterday, and they had a RIP 9 for sale at $1400, and an EMD 9 for $500. Didn't catch the sizes, and I think its an in-store special.

I assume with those prices we are talking frame only, right?

With the STR 10% discount at the Path, the RIP 9 is the same price. Build it up through the Path and you save even more coin.

Yeah, frame only. Just thought I'd throw it out there, good to know about that Path discount though.

If i am not mistaken I have seen the EMD frame at The Path marked at 499. if you are able to save an additional 10% with the STR discount you are ahead of the game as well. :bang:

How dare you even mention another store besides the Path!! Geez...

Interestingly enough, The Path isn't located in San Diego and isn't the only bike shop on Earth. BB is commonly known to offer crazy discounts as well. As is Bicycle Warehouse and most every other bike shop I've been in.

My Chumba eats Homers for breakfast. Did anyone see a Turner at LPQ last night? I didn't think so. They know to stay away.

It is a easy decision for me. I have King Hubs that have outlived my bikes and get handed down to the next build. I have a King, DT Swiss spokes laced to a Mavic 521D rim that has been on three bikes. Serviced once a year the past five years...one broken spoke and trued once.
    :steppie:

I wondered where that post went.

All very true. I was just pointing out that those BB sale prices didn't seem much better than what was regularly available at another local shop.

I am not a Path junkie, I've only been there once, but I have to say I was won over by their service, knowledge, and pricing. Not the only shop on earth by any means, I am starting to understand why so many people like the Path.
