You know that you could skip 7th and do Rattle Snake out Escalator then hit Cow trail. A lot more fun going that way with the single track. Cow trail is really nice right now. As for newbies..we take them on all the trails..we just wait a bit longer for them to get to the top and hang out on the single track. It is good ride from everyone really. Just have to be willing to wait. We all have to start somewhere! I'll be honest I was taken on these trail when I was a newbie by Hubby & Son...I will be honest and say I thought they were trying to Kill me..but they waited and I made it with coaching!!!

:) It's like I say, "We don't do this because it's easy, we do it because it isn't easy." You want easy then head to the beach or something a little flatter, lol!

Just another heads up in case folks haven't got the word. Please, please be very quiet and respectful in the neighborhood. There's a big push to keep us out and if we don't want to give them anymore ammo.

this will be my 3rd ride clipped in. if you're running SPDs i highly recommend multi-release cleats.

I've seen many quotes that the multi-release cleats (55/56) are better for beginners. When I first started using SPDs, I also tried the multi-release cleats and have been using them ever since.....1994.

As mentioned, start with them loose. If you're starting with new pedals and shoes, they will loosen up over the first few rides.

was just reading the other post about the noise complaints from the residents that live around the beverly turnbull area and was wondering if there were alternative parking locations nearby that we can all park and ride up to the trailhead. with the amount of people showing up for this ride, i can almost guarantee that we will unintentionally get loud. some of us would be putting on/taking off our pads, shoe, etc. that residents may confuse this as changing. i've never been there, but want to do what i can so we mtb folks don't get a bad rap.

It shouldn't be too bad. We're meeting at the trailhead which is about 1/4 mile from any residences. Just show up in your riding attire, put your pads in your pack, and try not to walk on anybody's grass or ride on the sidewalk. As far as talking, it is what it is. Realistically we won't be very loud in the neighborhood, but if they're going to find something to get mad about, oh well.

Is anyone leaving from the Huntington Beach area? My wife got in a car accident on Thursday and it was the car with my racks on it. I live around Goldenwest and Warner. I will pitch in for the gas money.
