Ride Report New Year's Eve San Gabes Ride

I was lucky enough to ride w/ a great group of people today for a New Year's Eve ride to Inspiration Point in the San Gabes.
Tom The Bomb, Myself, Aldo, Roxy, Dennis, Mikey, Josh, and Sonny.
it was great to ride w/ this group of very strong riders!
About 20 miles and almost 4,000 K climbing. Can't think of a better way the end 2013!! Took some pics....

Thanks for the invite Mark. Riding Lower Merrill wasn't as bad second time around.

After Sonny and I broke off from you guys at Sunset, we descended it in record time. But after that, Sonny was at his car and I had no idea where the **** I was. Nothing looked familiar and anyone I asked were just as clueless.
I found a local and he directed me which road to take to get back to the JPL lot; yep, it's that road w the sign: Campground is Closed.
So I didn't ride El Prieto but was happy just the same.

Tell me about it!!...I was running late and forgot to pack my snacks. I didn't want to bonk even though Mark offered me some of his food.

I gotta say: Mark's one of my favorite peeps to ride with; endless smiles and always so encouraging.

 

It's awesome when you get the chance to meet people on STR and put 2 and 2 together on screen names and real faces. That was a great ride! As well, it was great to meet you Mark, I sincerely hope we get to ride together soon! You are definitely one of the kings of that Chunky Schtuff!!!!

When you guys are done with Aldo you can give him back. The STR OGers miss him.

 

I'll let you know when we finish up with him but for now he is still showing us some great places to ride!

I do want to ride more with you guys. I've been "off the back" not riding as much due to work, cold weather where I live, and building my website. But I plan to get some more serious miles in and get back in shape. You guys have some epic rides over on the South side of "The Gabes" and I have really been missing out!!!

Still trying to figure out what Tom the Bomb did with my neck in that one photo with me and my cheese ball smile. Hmmmmm.... I have no neck!

Is that you Dio? Almost didn't recognize you, I guess getting engaged changes a lot huh? If it wasn't for the tape on the pads, I don't think i would have recognized you!
