You can mill the deck height the same thickness as the cps mounting washers and make a non-avid caliper work in theory, but I think that the milling process would make the mounting tabs on the caliper too thin to take the forces generated by the brakes themselves.(thinking out loud too!) I may have to take a look in my shop to see what I can come up with.............

I'll save you the trouble Ken. I'm not buying this bike. There, we can drink beer and forget about it now. :drunk:

But Sam! This could be another project for me...... Imagine how many happy riders there could be if you could use the Avid CPS washers on any other calipers........

    Alright. I'll stop:lol: :beer:this sounds better and easier!

or you could just counterbore/spot face the the caliper tab so the semi-spherical washer could be recessed in the housing.....

but thats almost as much work as milling it flat

I'm still waiting to see that new Lenz bike Fo was talking about that has no chainstays at all. The rear wheel just bolts right inside the cranks.

    That's my next ride.

None of this "one person tandem bike" stuff.

Big Mama will probably be my next endurance race bike. Look for some of my current stuff to go on sale soon to make room :)

Just looking at the compression on the rear... makes you wonder how long those rocker bearings will last with all the stress. Also, I would be concerned about how it would ride without the rear pivot bearings. If most FS bikes have bearings in the rear, why would this design be so much better :?:

You have a good point. I can see the rocker bearings taking a beating. Luckily for me, I don't seem to hang on to bikes for very long. And I'm ok with bearing replacement - it's the breakage I worry about.

I'm just hoping it rides as well as the initial reviews say.

Got some more pics and details here:

I spotted a Big Mama climbing San Juan on Saturday. The guy on the Big Mama was on the way up while I was on my way down so I didn't get a good look or talk to the rider too much.

I don't think it's been released to the public yet, so I'm guessing it was someone in the industry. Anybody know who it was or have more details? :?:
