I think what they are doing tomorrow doesn't include going up Holy Jim, but I could be wrong.

Hey I ran into this group today at the bottom of mathis. I would have joined you but my main ride is getting work done and I'm still not familiar with the bike I have to ride. Going from full squish to hardtail is tough to get used to (even though half the components on that bike are from upgrading my enduro). Hope you all had a good ride :D

THIS WEEK 1/17/2010: We'll be starting from The Path parking lot, riding through Peters Canyon to Santiago Oaks, loop through the Oaks and back to the shop!

    Ride leader: Rabie
    Ride sweep: Tony G

Since the Pivot Demo Day is happening at the same time and the ride will pass right by, you have the option of stopping by the Pivot tent and trying out a bike if you'd like.

We meet here in Tustin at The Path at 8am and try and roll out by 8:15-8:30.

When we head out to Sycamore Canyon, and meet up with folks out there, we meet in front of the Bank of America in the Canyon Crest shopping center, near the corner of Canyon Crest and Central parking lot.
We usually get there around 9:45 or so.

I hope you can join us!

ah-ha! I thought there was more to it. This is the vital info I was looking for as I hoped there would be a meeting place in the Riverside area as well, since that may be more convenient for people (like me). Thanks for the info!

A heads up on Sycamore Canyon Conditions, courtesy of Osmarandsara:

I imagine with all the OC parks closed a few folks are probably gonna want to head out to the IE this weekend to ride Sycamore. So I went over there today to check out conditions here's what I found.

Every single arroyo crossing I checked out was uncrossable.....there's a crap load of water that is coming down Box Springs Mts and draining into the canyon. I also saw evidence of flash-floods (debris, broken tree limbs, etc.) In particular, the small stream at the bottom of Moab is basically a raging river right now about 30 ft. wide and maybe 4 ft. deep by my estimate....

So if you ride out here this weekend, if your intended route crosses any of the arroyos be forwarned they might not be passable. Also be mindful of flash floods and don't hang out at the lower spots which are mainly the creek crossings. Other than that, the DG is draining pretty well and the ruts are limited to the usual places.

I'm still down to ride, but it sounds like we'll be denied some of the funner sections.

Thanks for posting this. I'm gonna talk to the guys at The Path tomorrow and see if it's gonna be worth the time to head out there.
Sounds to me like we should probably wait it out.

Last time out we found out the bridge we needed to cross had washed out. We were able to put it in a spot where we could go ahead and cross, but we've had a ton more rain than then. It could become a problem for sure.

My very unofficial opinion is that the trails should be good by tomorrow and the water crossings will be much more manageable. I'm tempted to head down that way and join the fun.
