My 2010 Knolly Delirium w/ RC4 came in this week. It's ready to ride. Now, I just have to find some trails to ride it on
I'll be interested in how you like the seat tube angle. I love the build. Looks sweet. Edit: Looks like the seat tube angle is fairly standard. I looked pretty slacked out in the pic.
Very nice and a very good choice. New bikes are fun, so is finding new trails to ride...now go have yourself some fun. Dean
As pictured, the beast is about 38 lbs. I have a lighter wheelset (Industry 9 Enduro) and a titanium spring on order to lighten the bike up for local trails. Hopefully, it'll get it to the 35-36 lb range. I'll save the DH wheels for Mammoth and other resort riding.
Great looking rig. Knollys are sweeeeeet. That's a lot of spacers under your stem, rider preference or sizing issues?
The Knolly has a relatively short head tube (it's about an inch shorter than the Rogue's head tube). The parts on the bike came off the Rogue. I usually run 15-20mm spacers under the stem on most of my mountain bikes. Currently, I have 25mm on the Knolly and still had to cut an inch off the steerer tube. I'll probably change up the spacers after a few test rides. The handlebar height on the Knolly currently is about the same as my Epiphany or Moment.
I've never tried the Hammerschmidt. My buddy just built up an Uzzi with Hammershmidt and it is LOUD. I'll wait to see how he likes it before changing anything.
Delirium:-k, is that not the new drug going around at all the undergrounds these days? ALLLLMOST looks pretty sweet. You need to get a red ano knob on the Fox, the blue just completely messes up the whole scheme and may make you a bit slower and mess with your confidence. Also, lets hope it's effects on you are kept to #2. Don't want any of #1 as you fly down hill although incoherent speech after the ride might be a good sign. Delirium NOUN: A temporary state of mental confusion and fluctuating consciousness resulting from high fever, intoxication, shock, or other causes. It is characterized by anxiety, disorientation, hallucinations, delusions, and incoherent speech. A state of uncontrolled excitement or emotion: sports fans in delirium after their team's victory. Enjoy the ride:beer:
I took the Knolly for a ride today and had a blast. My initial thoughts on the bike (compared with the Rogue that it replaced): 1. The rear end is really stiff. I never felt that the Rogue rear end was flexy, but I could tell the Knolly's felt stiffer. 2. The Knolly has a shorter cockpit. The effective top tube for the med Delirium is listed at 23.3 in (it felt shorter than that) compared with the large Rogue's 24.5 in. This wasn't a good or bad thing, just something I noticed. 3. The head tube on the Knolly is about 1 inch shorter than the Rogue's, so the front end was lower (with the same fork and spacers). I think this helped me in the steep and loose climbs, making it easier to keep the front end down. 4. The Twenty6 Rallye Ti pedals squeaked like a mofo ( I was running Drillium pedals on the Rogue). 5. The Knolly's Four by 4 suspension pedaled great. But, so did the Ellsworth Rogue with it's ICT suspension. 6. The Knolly's slightly slacker head angle didn't seem to be a problem with climbing and definitely felt great bombing the fast downhill sections. 7. The Knolly is a quiet bike (except for the Rallye ti pedals). 8. 38 lbs is 38 lbs. I'm not sure what people mean when they say a bike pedals light. I felt every pound. I'm gonna work on lightening her up a bit. Anyways, I still have to get the shock dialed in better. Looking forward to more riding time on the Knolly before Bootleg in a few weeks.
