trinidad- you can get in through the main entrance to irvine park by taking the road that leads to the boy scout property. also, you can take any of the trails that used to cut across the creek--just be prepared to ride through a little water. wanna hit it next wed. afternoon?

You're all welcome to come out and ride the trails with Hans on 3/5/2011. And if you like what you see, you can thank him personally!

Santiago Oaks and Irvine Regional Parks ride
with Hans Keifer, president of Bell Free Contractors and founder of Over the Bars Mountain Bike Club.
    Saturday, March 5 ยท 8:00am - 1:00pm
1 Irvine Park Rd, Orange, CA 92869

We will start in Irvine Regional Park and ride into Santiago Oaks Park. There is a $5 per vehicle entry fee to the park. We will meet at 8:00 am and ride by 8:15.

There are a lot of new and really fun trails in this park. We will be riding around 25-30 miles mostly on single track with some double track and a little bit of fire roads. There are many options for a shorter or longer ride. We will never be more then 7-8 miles from the cars. Most of the trails are less then a mile long. We will be going up and down different trails and a few of the more enjoyable trails we will do a few laps. The newest trail is expected to be complete by the time of this ride!

Once in the park continue straight past the zoo and horse horrals to the first parking lot on the left side of the street.

My apologies for the hijack Radical Rich.

Rich, you must be feeling better from the time I rode with - thanks for posting the pics - the changes look great and last time I was there they were working on Yucca -after that there is nothing left to do.

Maybe the state will let Hans build some new trails at El Moro .... I wish...

We rode the oaks on Wed. Plan was to go down the old Goat tech line, back up the Goat switcbacks, then up to Zips and down zips and chutes. Before we descended Goat, we saw all the new switchbacks. So we climbed up Coachwhip, directly to the top of Zips. Nice mellow, but long climb. the whole time we were thinking what a fun flowy downhill it would be! but we went down Zips. Next time were therre well go down coachwhip. Im lovin the lower part of chutes now with the berms. Hats off to Hans, and the county for making this happen.

Sweet Dude, I just don't want to test it to the fullest, if ya know what I mean!
Gimme a call or text and we'll set up a ride after it dries out- that'll be by Monday or Tuesday, cause this place handles the rain better than a sponge!

Actually, Hans is scheduled to do some repairs at El Moro- lets get as many people as we can to call the ranger station there and encourage them to let him work his magic!!

I'm definitely interested in these trails. I see you guys are riding Wednesday, and it got me wondering if anyone knows there way around to show me? Was looking to see if anyone might be able to show me a trail or two come Tuesday or Thursday?

Rich, shit, I forgot about that. I did the luge this last wednesday then went for a hike in Blackstar and ran back to the car thinking the clinic was this week. I'll see what time Doug can ride. But, I think it's a close enough drive that I'll be back at the car with time to drive over afterwards.

Trekster, why don't you just come out with us. I know doug and I love seeing people get "stoked," on new dirt.

The new Oaks is my now my favorite spot in OC, and there is hardly any traffic there. Everybody is at Aliso. For those that don't know where its at, its 20 min North of Los Angeles.

I'm assuming it's an afternoon ride, maybe Doug will chime in. But, I don't think I've ever ridden with Doug in the morning.
Sorry Treckster, but pm me anytime, I usually do ride weekday mornings.
