hey I got a group of guys together and a key to ride skyline for tomorrow (10/24) but I have one problem, none of us know the trailheads... My buddy that does know them flaked out on me today. We have a shuttle truck and my GF will be shuttling. I just need another rider that knows where to go up there. Hit me up if you wanna ride it. We are all expert and sport riders...

I have trail work tomorrow, look for an old engine block, that is the start of the downhill, it is a epic trail, the weather should be good.

Funny. You guys passed my buddy and I not to far before you hit Black Star Canyon Rd. We were just getting ready to drop down. We thought you guys were gonna come flying by any second while we were gearing up. That was a tough climb on my freeride bike and I was really jealous when you passed. The ride down was worth the climb though. It was my first time there and my buddy hadn't been back in years. The trail didn't require a lot of suspension. I think a trail bike will be enough next time if I have to climb. Hope you guys found your way. Let me know if you need a tour guide next time. I have some other friends that love to shuttle and we could always organize retrieving vehicles and multiple shuttles.

I don't know if you might have seen us. I was on a brown bike with a white full face helmet on my pack. My friend was on a silver bike. How long did it take to drive to the top or where you passed us? It took us 1.5 hours. The ride down lasted 15 minutes without going full bore because of lack of familiarity.

Here's a gmaps route map that shows our route from the top were you passed us. The end point of the route is were we dropped into a singletrack that never reconnects with Skyline Dr. I couldn't draw the whole route back to the bottom of the mountain cuz I couldn't follow it in satellite view. There are a couple of trail intersections on the way down. The trail eventually dumps you out at the intersection of Mangular Ave. and Chase Dr.

Anyone know what that trail is called? Troy Lee maybe?

Some people used to call it the Troy Lee Trail, and also Steepies, but I think the common name is Diablo.

My riding buddy said one offshoot of the trail we were on was called Diablo but he had never been on it. I think I like "Steepies" cuz that describes it perfectly.
