I'm running Conti GP 4000s also. So far they made the biggest difference out of any part I've gotten for my bike.

Check Pro Bike Kit regularly. They are currently out of stock...but so far they have the best prices I've seen. They were even cheaper last year. I got my pair for around 70usd.

+1 on the gatorskin - holding up really well on the crappy So Cal roads this winter. I got mine from Probikekit.com, they are in the UK and will ship to the US free, it just takes some time (10 days) but the prices are the best around, currenlty $27 for the folding.

I just picked up a Vittoria Rubino Tech from IE Bikes for $30. I've put three rides on it and it seems to work pretty nice. I'll be heading down to replace the other tire this week probably. I needed something inexpensive and longer lasting. The owner recommended them, we'll see how long they last. THe 06 Specialized Mondo's tha came with the bike only lasted about 600 miles but that was over about 2 years and the roads here in Temecula aren't the greatest.

Me too. The only tire I'll ever use and have a collection of other tires in the garage to prove it. I love the speed of the Michelins but they're a glass magnet.

Switched from 4000S to gatorskins. The GP4000S is a hell of a lot nicer rolling, but I'm dealing with WAY fewer flats.

I've gone through two sets of Conti Ultra Gatorskins 23mm over a 2+ year period without a single flat. I am giving the Conti GP 4000 25mm a try as soon as they arrive. The GPs are lighter. I've hear a report of thin sidewalls which gives me a bit of concern due to all the mountain roads I ride with rocks all over the place. Hopefully this will not be an issue.

Out of curiosity what's can I expect the gatorskins or 4000s to get me in terms of mileage?

I've had great luck with Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick. And performace usually has them on sale for around $25. I run them at 120psi and have only had one flat in 6 months with the same set.

I currently have around 1300 mi on the new 150 tpi vittoria rubino pro's. Fantastic tire!! A good all around compromise of speed, wear resistance, flat protection, and cornering grip. I do about 75% of my riding in P.V., and with all the crap that is on the roads from the wind they have held up fine.

The only two flats I've had in three years were with the Rubino Pros. Was that the tire fault? Hard to say.

Mileage wise with the Conti - I don't keep track of this stuff as religiously as others do but I have well over 1,000 miles on my Gator Skins.

I have Ultra Gatorskins on my bike and have never had a problem with them. so +1 on em.

Granted I never had any issues with Fortezza's or Rubino's either. The only tires I ever had probles with were some older Specialized (about 9 years ago) and some Hutchinson's about 12 years ago. I have a set of GP 4000s tires waiting, but the gator's wont die....

Im due for a new rear tire, I have roughly 1500 miles on them and have had only 1 flat. Great longevity, amazing rolling resistance and great looking tires. If I had a problem with flats I'd run the Gators, but for now, I'm sticking with the 4000s.

Are these the Vittoria Rubino Pro III folding clinchers you're talking about? I've heard really good things about these AND they seem to be getting real good reviews for a training/weekend road tire; about $37 to $42 a tire. Vittoria upgraded the TPI from 120 to 150. I think the Pro II is 120 TPI. My Conti Ultra Sports (stock tire on bike) leave a lot to be desired as they pick up bits of glass and what-not and are starting to show wear at 500 miles.
