If you want a dependable locking system, you need to check out the axis system from benchmade. it locks open and will withstanda 1200 pound load before the lock gives..... in other words, your arm is the weak point in the axis system.... Very nice safety system

So just to add the update, I picked up my Barrage....... Friggin benchmade made a damned good folder with this one.....

I really like it, assist works great, and the axis system is just friggin tough.

I have three that get used regularly, depending on what I'm doing.

My #1 knife for daily use is an Ernest Emerson designed Benchmade CQC7, Left hand, chisel ground, tanto blade, titanium liner.

I didn't know they went up in price so much. Ouch. This would be a hard one to replace.

#2 is a special edition H&K Benchmade Auto, similar to this one, but spiffier with grips that are partially ti.

#3 is a Mel Pardue designed, again Benchmade, auto that is super thin and is nice when you're dressed up and don't want a print through.

The LCP is a great backup. But without a CCW, and not one to openly carry in the SAMO mountains, I don't know how you do it.

Due to the rash of recent ML sightings, I thought my multi-tool folder might take too long to draw. I got offered this by my friendly knife purveyor. Cost effective. Clipped it onto my camelbak and sewed in the tip of the sheath into the shoulder strap to minimize rattling.

I was sold on the adjustable tension on the spring loaded retainer. Its easy to draw, but wont drop. I have it installed with the handle downwards.

But if I want to carry a folder, its usually a Gerber with a smaller 3" blade.

After looking at my meager collection I decided to beef it up. So I bought these two knives and have a few more I'm lurking after.

My new EDC. This thing may be the "best" EDC I've ever had. Not for quality, my Browning/Mcusta takes that title, but just overall badassness. I love it.
