well, last friday my brother Stephen had a pretty gnarly crash, head on with a big ass rock, thank god his back neck and spine is ok, but, he does have 5 fractures in his face, a broken jaw, busted nose and a broken wrist, his lip was split right down the middle about a thumbs width, they got that sewed up really good but he is swollen like a watermellon. he has to have titanium plates put in his face to, after swelling goes down, oh and he was wearing a helmet, that and his chest protector saved his life. he will be ok just months of recovery and reconstructive surgery.

heres a little backround on my brother.
from the age of 9-16 he raced bmx in expert on a factorty backed team, he was the district champion and one of the fastest 15 experts out there he went by the name of "Fly Guy".
Hes never gave up on anything went all over the US for national races, when he stoped racing he was just burnt out on bmx, we also went to the desert alot to go riding as a family, stephen has never been the one to slow down, every time he just goes faster and faster i dont think he knows how to slow down lol. hes just my crazy brother and will always be my crazy brother. so for about 2 years of MX we got into downhill now hes 18 and he just kept progressing he wanted to start racing downhill in the next month or so then he took that crash.
The funny thing is when i saw him laying on the bed in the ER he asked me if the bike was ok lol, i told him it was fine i dont care about the bike. i went down saturday morning to see him the first thing he said to me was did you go buy that bike off the guy yet, i told him no will probly get it next week, we were supposed to go get him a newer bike on saturday but he crashed friday.

ill post some pics of him soon, hes ok just his arm hurts the most.

heres a pic of him from the other day

heres a pic of the helmet. padding soaked up most of the blood.

So glad to hear his spirits are up and he's feeling better..

WOW  ..hang in here Lil' Bro 8-[ Healing vibes are on the way w/out delay

Remember to keep the faith that he's in good hands now, it's like that 1970's TV show The Six Million Dollar Man..

"Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster."

BTW, I hate to ask because I'm afraid of the answer, but was this an MX crash or DH? :?:

Glad he's okay and his spirits are up. Thankfully he was wearing a FF helmet. I can't imagine the results without it.

doc said if there was no helmet hed be 6 feet under, but that and his chest protector helped out alot, he wears a thor sentential its a light weight chest protector, but pretty strong, if any is looking for a chest protector look into the thor setential, it also works with the leatt brace

That is awesome. I always give props to the guys who take nasty crashes and when asked if they are going to ride again their response is "hell yeah!!"

Wish him the best and a fast recover. And as I always say "He is now one step closer to being a cyborg!" Gotta love titanium.:bang:

wow. here's hoping for a fast recovery for your brother. How did his helmet fail to protect his face? It looks like the rock broke through the mouth portion of his helmet.

it protected his face, he just hit that rock head on at full speed, and from the force thats what happend with the helmet as probably with almost any snell or dot approved helmet thats what the doc said. now its time to look for a new helmet probably a TLD SE2 or fox v3
