Tani -ouch thats on big bounce fella. sorry to hear of the injury. been there sone that - all the best healing vibes to you and get back out there and charge it again
heard about the crash from ethan yesterday, sorry to hear man! Heal up quick so we can see you two battle it out in super d
Get well soon, Tani. The missus and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Let me know if there is anything I can do.
Heal Quick.... broke a few ribs on AW fire road of all places. It was dry and very sandy, coming down from TOW on a friends old bike with skinny, over inflated tires... :-s anyhow, couldn't laff or cough for several months, but could still ride! Getting in and out of bed was not good... get well man...
You may want to mix in some more or less braking next time. That is awesome. You've got my worst injury story beat by ALOT. Get well and hope you can ride asap.
tani, good thing, you'll be back to 100% when fully healed. did you break a medacarpel bone? i busted the 4th over a year ago, wasn't too bad for recovery, 6 weeks in cast (bone was 50% strength), then another 6 weeks for full 100% strength. joplin this winter bud!
Tani, I feel your pain……..broke my right clavicle and fractured left rib many years ago in and MX crash. The worst part of the injury was not the pain, but the fact I could not wipe my own behind (funny, but not funny). Heal quickly, think positive, enjoy the med’s and thanks for the great MTB recommendations e.g. Sunday WC
getting better Thank you all for caring. The pain has entered a very normal, almost gone kind of level. It is great to be healing. The pins in my hand have been out for two weeks, and I have been out of the cast for that time. The pins were gnarly. They look just like bike spokes with the threads and elbow cut off. They were like 4 plus inches long. The doc pulled em out with plyers. I am using the left hand more and more, and gaining motion. My rib is all but completely healed. I can barely feel pain even if it is pushed on. My collar bone still feels real tight, but the range of motion is comming back. The best part is that I am starting to ride my beach cruiser to work again. I still can't pull front brake, so the mellow speeds, the coaster brake, and the comfy one handed riding position are nice. It feels great to be rolling again. See you all on the trails, hopefully within a week or two. Peace
Glad to hear you're recovering well! Take it easy and don't push it too fast. Not worth the risk reinjuring yourself!
He offered I was pretty rattled by the experiene. I remember thinking that I just wanted this behind me as I declined.
Hey Tani, glad to hear you're feeling better! You looked pretty unhappy (in a lot of pain) the few times I saw you in the shop with the cast on. Sounds like your recovery is ahead of schedule? Hope you're back flying DH soon! :bang:
Tani - congrats...good news. hope healing process continues in uneventful manner. keep up the good spirts
Update I can ride a mountain bike again... sort of. Well after 10 weeks since the crash, I finally rode dirt again. First, I did a road ride, and felt pretty good. I was not going to ride dirt again for another week or two. The other day some guys were in the shop talking about doing the Skyline dh trails. I went out to show them the drop off points etc. Well, I couldn't resist. I ended up doing three runs. It felt incredibly good to be on the bike again. The first G out, I was not sure if I would be able to hold on to the bars, but it was ok. I even hit a little double jump gap at the bottom. So, my hand is still week, and sore when I hit big bumps. My colar bone is still sore. A small crash would still hurt pretty badly. Who cares? I can ride. I have never been off the bike for more than 6 weeks. This has been torture. Thanks for all of your concern and care. See you on the trails.
