For those looking for a Thanksgiving Day ride try this one at least once. Here's a link to see the type of trails. This ride is a yearly tradition and hundreds show every year. http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3304 Most shuttle. I did hang my adventure pass last I parked near the saddle it was required. Please some of you regulars that do this chime in with any more info.
Here is a Google file of Sunset Fireroad Trailhead (NF2N07), upper parking. Last time we asked permission to park at the RV Park across the street and left another car down where you park to ride Marshall Canyon. The upper parking lot you see is marked no parking, it seems that they want to keep it open to land helicopters. NOTE: You need to download and install Google Earth to view file. If someone wants my GPS tracklog E-mail me. I have it in Garmin .gpx or National Geographic Topo .tpo. My GPS files are over file size limit, so I can not post them here. Dean
Some die-hards do an out and back from La Verne. I'll be shuttling this ride once again. Of course it's to justify pigging out later on. I would advise wearing cold weather gear. You can always park on Glendora Ridge Road a couple of hundred feet beyond the trailhead. There are a couple of turnout areas down there.
There are alot of people that meet up at 4 corners (top of Harding and Maple Springs) on Thanksgiving morning. Last year there was food and coffee and all sorts of stuff - should be fun again this year.
No problem with the parking but it can get crowded up there. Most people car pool. I'm not sure but some of the guys from Incycle were helping out with this. I can carry 8 bikes in my truck (ala Noble Cyn style), but I can only carry two people besides myself.
Sounds like fun to me. Heck, I'd even climb it first and then ride down. I've been wanting to do that. But, if others are going, I'd like to tag along if it's okay. Where do we sign up?
7 sounds good as the group usually leaves around 8. A couple years ago Mountain biking Action took some pix and wrote a story about the get together. 7 sounds good as the group ususally leaves around 8. A few years back MBA Action was there and did a story on us. It was also in one of the local newspapers.
Thanksgiving morning at 7 AM at Oak Mesa Park in LaVerne. This ride is entirely on fireroad but it's all downhill except for a few spots.
