    Hey guys,

i really want to check out Big Bear and use the lifts for some non-climbing downhill action. Can anyone tell me when the season for this starts and they allow you to take the bikes on the lifts and trails? Couldnt find anything on their websites. The latest I could go would be April 20th....I hope this works.

    Thanks

The chair lifts at Snow Summit typically open for mountain biking around mid-late May.

Thanks, unfortunately that's too late for me. My bike travels back to Europe on April 25th.

Is there any other lift-operated downhill tracks around here that maybe open earlier?

With the weather we've been having, the lifts might open soon.

You could always shuttle Noble Canyon or San Juan

They typically open to bikes shortly after they shut down winter operations. There is no set date, if they could keep winter operation still going all summer they would never allow bikes.

Big Bear (Snow Summit) isn't really "downhill tracks" like you might find at a proper bike park. A few illegal trails and one or two legal trails thick with silt. It's fun, but not DH rig, Whistler, Northstar, Mammoth fun.

No lift-served riding in SoCal except at ski areas - which will have snow until May. I assume you are doing some local shuttle runs?

yea, big bear is a snoozer compared to the others mentioned (mammoth, tahoe, whistler).
why don't they just open it for DH bikes, so lame that sometimes people get on with big bike and sometimes not.
just head to mammoth or northstar, 10x better for sure.
