I got serious about my riding last year about june and i weighed about 210# by the time school started (end of september) i weighed in about 180#. I am currently about 274-5 depending on the time of day(pre or post coffee). I rode my bike every day of the week in summer and on school brakes(road and mtb). I also combined this with 5-7 small meals and weight lifting at night so i could ride in the day. I currenylt ride 2-3 time a week and lift 2-3 time a week and still try to eat ok (school stress causes the occasional bindge of beer and pizza). I also use a spread sheet on excel that allows me to track my progrress as well (pm me if you want me to email it to you).

Advice: keep at it and have fun no matter how hard the trail is or how you feel. If someone smaller burns the up hills let them, just blow past them(whe safe) on the down hills. When the going gets tuff in the saddle i usually just smile and think man this is better than the best day of doning homework or working indoors.

Keep the rubber down and the smiles tilted up.

Not sure how true this is, but I read that the rule of thumb for optimal climbing weight is:

height in inches x 2, then converted to pounds

    For me that's 74in x 2 = 148 pounds.

    Great.
So all I have to do is lose 48 pounds and I'll climb like a goat! Awesome :bang:

    That's probably true. I know I climb a lot better at 173 then I did at 196.

I just wish the beer in my back pack weren't so damn heavy!

Over Spring Break, I was riding almost everyday... by the end of the 9 day period I had lost about four lbs. I'm 170 right now. Added from Spring Break, I've cut my self down to 163/164. I'm trying to pump down to -160. It doesn't seem like a lot of weight, but the weight I loss is gone for good. It isn't like my weight goes up and down erratically. I'm happy with my slow, but consistent weight loss. :) (I'm 16.)

Starting Jan 1st I did a couple things, I changed my diet and started riding more. As of this morning I am 35 lbs lighter. Stopped the fast food and sodas and ride more, that works for me.

Well, I've yet to race clydes. But if I do I'll bust the T-back for the weigh in just for you Freek.

Lots of great weightloss success stories here. One of these days I'll get serious and lose that 15lbs. or so.

I was 210lbs a few years ago. Started riding on the weekends and nothing really changed.

Now I'm down to 195 empty in the morning and ride 2-3 times a week and try to put in a long ride on saturdays. BUT I'm stuck at 195.....I really want to get down to 185 or 180 but that seems to be going no where right now. The 4 tacos at tuesday night ride with out the ride isn't helping either. #-o

    I'm stuck at 190 :(

I can eat like crap, and bike like hell, and still stay there.
I can eat healthy, bike like hell, and still stay there.
I can eat whatever, take a week or so off the bike, and still stay there.

I think I started just shy of 210, lost a bunch of weight real quick, then kind of just hit a wall. I've been told it looks like I lost weight, which is true but the scale stays the same.

    This Rocks!

I'm feeling so motivated, and I honestly can't put into words how effective reading all this has been for my resolve in getting back in shape. Was all tired today after work, and was gonna just sit on the couch, but I thought about some of you who talked about your two rides a day or weights or however you did it, and I ran out the door to hit the hills by my house. Too bad I crashed and rolled into a dead cacti, but the point is that I did it.

What another person said in some book I was reading was that, if you really want to get to a certain goal, you can't miss your workouts. Meaning, if you realize, "hey, I have an extra hour or two right now, what should I do?" then you should always take advantage of that to train because if you don't you can't get that time back and have simply delayed reaching your goal.

Hey people when you share your success stories (or failure stories) can you also share your height? Some guys are talking about being 215 and shredded, but how tall does that make you? Also before and afters!

I ride for calories now. Welcome to Garmin 705 world. If I don't hit at least 1000 calories on a ride then I ride a bit more. I love to hate that little computer!

    New Years Day 2008 = 208lbs
I hover at 176lbs as long as I'm riding and I'm a whole lot faster climbing too. Unfortunately I'm still a pansy ass downhill, at least compared to a lot of you nutjobs.
