Cheap Ti is a bad Idea.

    I would avoid it.

I personally would avoid it. I would much rather pay more and buy a big brand bike (Trek, Specialized, Felt) or well-known smaller brand (BMC, BH, Cervelo), as they have a great reputation, then buy a off-name brand.

I say go for it. I have 5 Ti bikes. 3 of them are road bikes. 2 of them are not high end but have lasted and even been raced on. Aside from breaking, the big issue might be flex. High end Ti bikes are stiffer. Low end tend to flex a lot. That makes the ride more forgiving on your body but you might notice a noodley feeling when you accelerate or sprint.
The gruppo is good, I guess. Look at the reviews and let that help you decide. Roadbikereview maybe has info. Too.

Motobecane is NOT an off-brand name. I gave a hard look at one of their bikes last year, and was ready to pull the trigger until I got a great deal on another bike from one of my customers (which is an LBS). The frames are solid, and they've recieved good reviews on MBAction in the past, along with great reviews on MTBR.com. My buddy has a Ti frame on a 29" hardtail with a full XX build. I haven't heard any complaints from him either.

The way I see it, you get a SLAMMIN' component group with a free frame. If you don't like the frame, swap the components onto another one. You can't really lose.

EDIT: I know this OP is looking at a road bike. But I think the main concern is the Motobecane name. So my $.02 is regarding the company. However i have been giving this one a very hard look for my next bike:

I am pretty sure some folks here have bought the Motobecane TI Superfly MTBs and have been very happy with them.

if you ride by yourself or with other MTBers then go for it. BUT if you ever ride with roadies and don't want to receive looks of disgust or whispers behind your back then save yourself the walk/ride of shame and buy a main brand bike with ultegra or even 105.

First of all, we aren't real people.

Second of all, if you don't care what we think, why'd you ask us?
"Ha ha i can care less on what snobby nut huggers think"

Third of all, I don't wear "nut huggers". I wear "lip squishers"

Tubing would be the same as any other high end Ti bike. Componets are top notch. Bike looks beautiful. I can't see a downside to this. Motobecane makes some really nice bikes. I had my first one over 40 years ago.
