I don't know how other mobile devices handle STR, but my Blackberry sucks for surfing STR, especially with the java-based functions like quick reply. Any change we could get a mobile-optimzed version of STR for when we are on the go?
My blackberry sucks on str too. the weirdest behavior is the page tells me my quick reply failed. that wouldn't be so weird, but i didn't quick reply.
I don't know how difficult or expensive it is, but vBulletin can do this. If you goto www.sprintusers.com/forum on your handheld, it automagically figures out that you on a mobile device and de-fubars the format for you.
works perfect as do almost all websites on my iphone my work blackberry browser sucks balls for most websites.
Seems like this is a bit of work. Basically you have to add in an auto detect feature, which is really a hack, then you have to create a whole new skin. Getting the look and feel of STR to work on a phone may not be that easy. http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=142627
So maybe I just need a different device or I'll just wait until our company upgrades to the next blackberry.
I love mine. It doubles as an mp3 player. I don't hook it to our Exchange, but I do have my hotmail, yahoo, and gmail on there. Mine has GPS and it works with Google maps. Google knows all about me. Wait a second...that's kinda scary... It cost 100 clams plus a promise of my soul for the next 2 years.
Thanks! Will have to look into this when I get some time. Currently swamped at work and also started an unrelated STR project which is fairly ambitious. That's all I'll say for now 8-[
Yeah, I have Pearl that does all the stuff well except surf the net. I don't hate my blackberry or anything, but I lust after the iPhone every time I see it.
I'm lusting after it now too. A co-worker just got a "jailbroken" one and the 3rd party apps are sweet. Basically every iPhone gripe that people have had (ringtones, gps, etc) except for 3G is solved with 3rd party apps. He even got a terminal running on it, vnc, etc. Whoops, getting a bit off topic . . .
This crackberry is a curve. My buddy at work has a 8800, and he liked mine better. The iPhone looks nice, but it's completely unnecessary for my needs. Even with the problems, I can still waste time here.
