Anybody done it? I just put one on, haven't ridden it yet though.
I had a Kenda Klaw XT 2.1 on there before, but I felt I didn't have enough traction, so this should help me with my cornering I believe...

The DHR stands for DH Race not DH Rear Tire.

DHF is a better tire. In fact, most people use DHF on both front and rear. Never seen anyone use DHR on front. Some use on rear.

PS If I remember correctly, Maxxis came out with DHR for the rear with different tread patterns because some complained that DHF's rolling resistance was too high.

fwiw, the tread pattern on the DHR is close to that of the highroller. I know a good amount of people somehow get away with running that on the front, so the DHR would prolly be fine.

I have a spare one that I might try running in front sometime...

Curious if that is the case what does DHF stand for?

dhf on the rear sucks to pedal, I had no choice on time and i hated pedaling it. Dhr on the front works fine. I ran one for a few months not as much traction as the dhf but for sure rolls faster.

That's what I wanted to hear! I put in a lot of road miles to get to the trailheads. :) And climbing up to chantry is :bang:
I'm just glad for a bigger contact patch, and that it only cost me 5 bucks brand used :)
I would have thought the DHF would roll faster than the DHR because the knobs look closer apart.

you can sipe the center lugs at an angel to help with rolling resistance and still have nice size center lugs for cornering.

There is the DHF and DHR. Originally, the "F" was for front, and the "R" was for rear. Now, they advertise them as either/or. The DHFs are WAY better, the DHRs give out too easily, IMO. The DHFs have more predictability in regards to them sliding; they only give when you give them that extra "push" and you WANT them to give. That's why you see many people running the DHFs as a front and rear. I don't think the DHRs compare to the Highrollers.

Minion DHF > Highroller > Minion DHR.

Okay, last question, what do the slits in the knobs do? Or actually how to they have less rolling resistance? My thought was that you would want as much rubber as you can when it comes to hitting the pavement.

On pavement, sure! But on dirt, too much rubber can actually give you less grip. You just need to find a tire that is suited to the terrain you're riding, as well as a tire that fits your riding style. Finding a tire is 85% performance, and 15% preference.

you need space between nobs for the nobs to bite, giving space lets each nob dig down into the dirt deaper
