I don't think you have to be too clever to know Brazilians speak Portuguese, not Spanish.

I never knew that being able to roam about this county without having the ability to identify yourself was one of the "rights". Then again, I'm just a first generation immigrant.

Then why do the state of california have a ID card for the non-drivers? I'm not joking here. Serious question.

I wouldn't worry too much about the future....in 40 years according to the Pew Center there are going to be 100 million Hispanics even if they erect an electric border fence......enough to get that law off the books if its still there....then again, these 100 million Hispanics might be fully assimilated, become Republican, and would pass even stricter laws......

Incorrect: non-citizens are required to carry identification proving they are in the US legally.

Another serious question, because as much of a "melting pot" as this country is, how does anyone make a determination between a citizen and a non-citizen given the same senario?

Actually, funny you should mention. ...& funnier since I've taken the opposite side on this whole debate, but I personally keep two things in my pocket at all times. A wallet and my passport. Never know when you're going to need to leave the country & why...

Okay after 15 pages of this thread, was the Arizona law passed or the Federal law enforced in Arizona. Oh wait, has Arizona stated building Detention Centers to detain all these people that look foriegn to law enforcement, NO!!!
Has anyone written thier opinion to the Arizona state legislature from STR or sent this gaggle of pages from this thread, Probably Not?
How many of you have read the Patriot Act or had the soveriegn right to vote on it, "ah I doubt any of us"?

Folks were a disenfranchised society we're we like it or not, and under the rule of law we had no piece in. The Patriot Act is actually pretty scary if it was enforced in it's entireity, The Arizona issue would be minuscule.

I actually think the "crucial, salient question" is whether or not a nation's borders are sovereign.

Until it becomes the United States of Earth, I believe the individual countries would like to believe so.

eh? Twasnt me, I've had this same simple leather wallet since I was 7.

...stole it actually, from the clearance bin at a leatherworks factory near where I grew up.

Couple years ago when I was back in that state, I went by the place and it was still there. Stopped in, thanked em for the nice wallet, explained, apologized, and paid for it. We're good now. When I die, and pass through the digestive tract of a bear, this wallet will probably follow me.

An that's more than you ever wanted to know about the bit of hide under my ass.

Newp. Little white Alfa Romeo. ...usually with flames coming out from under the hood. ...and a bike dangling by one strap bouncing all over the road behind it.

Ah! 1st Taco Tuz. It wasn't me lucky wallet went missing, it was me. Went to the wrong Albertsons on that road. :(
