I used to pull my daughter in a trailer all over Marshall Cyn. It's plenty wide, a little steep at times with the trailer on.

I added a poll to see how many people will be eating after the ride at T.Phillips. Please vote so we see how many we'll have. Thanks

Bring her along, it's a newbie ride. She will be no more a newb than some. You can always cut out if it gets too hard, but I doubt it will be that tough.

What the hell people, guess I shall join in on the fun. With that many riders I am HOPING to not hold the group up all though any climbs will kick my arse.

I am also hoping to have a new ride OTHER then the Stinky but if not then the Stinker will do.

I wont be attending the get-together afterwards though, will need to get home and do some work on the house and make sure the kids are not driving the Mrs toooo crazy. ](*,)

With all the riders going someone must know someone who can fly overhead and get an aerial picture of the group before everyone breaks off into the smaller groups. That would be a sweet pic.

Agreed, I dont know if those trails have ever seen so many riders at one time. I almost feel like I should post signs to warn the equestrians and peds that we will be there enmass that day.

    Hi everyone,
The ride from the school up to potato and back is 17 mi and a difficult ss ride. Potato is a very difficult climb in anything higher then 32-20.

The ride from the school down cobal up burbank and down Marshall is 15 mi. and a good ss ride.

The ride through Marshall to the split to Webb down webb back up thompson and burbank and down Marshall is about 13. This is a good ss ride too but is more enjoyable on f/s because of the multiple possibilities of good air off the numerous jumps and steeps.

You can lengthen ride 3 be going out to cobal up burbank and then out webb and back up burbank. This would make ride 3 about 20 mi.

Hope this helps , wish I could be there . I have to work sat.
Keep the rubber side down, and give courtesy to hikers and horses.

Might be a good idea to call the Equestiran Center thats up there. They do rides up marshall canyon most of Saturday. (Looked into it for a date, girl loves horses, now if I can only get her on the Aluminum kind).

Okay so lets say we post a notice about the ride, what sort of info would we want to include - date and time are obvious, but what else? I regularly see riders who appear to be in the 'newbie' catagory in the area, so perhaps we should word it as an invitation to join in. There is a bulletin board at the Claremont entrance where we could post a notice, but there are so many different access points to Marshall Canyon that covering each one might be difficult. Any thoughts? I will be riding there at least twice this weekend so I should be ablel to put something up.

I just spoke with Incycle...They are the LBS in the area and have a ride every Monday night either at Marshal Cyn or Bonelli. Incycle will be there Sat morning with there EZ-up to do minor tune ups and give advice on any issues you might be having with your bike. They are also working on getting a bike rep out to demo bikes that day. We tried to get Cannondale and Specialized out, but unfortunately it was too short notice, but they are still waiting to hear back from Trek, so keep your fingers crossed.

Also Incycle will be sponsoring the ride by giving the leaders and the sweepers some extra tubes and CO2 in case anyone has a flat. And if that's not enough, they really want you to stop by and visit their shop after the ride, so they will be handing out 10% off coupons to everyone on the ride.

I'm really excited that STR is finally invading the trails I learned to ride a mountain bike on!
Woooowhoooo! It will be fun either way.

Besides posting signs at a few access points a couple should also be posted at the equestrian center. It can be easily accessed by car via Esperanza. My wife's uncle and family ride their horses there pretty much every Saturday. I'll ask her to give him a call as well. Hopefully he can notify others to watch out for us. I think posting the signs as an invitation is a great idea.
