Marin AXC B17 SS Budget Build .8down found this frame on the Adrenaline site. Has anyone had experience w/ this frame? I am planning to do a very tight budget build for people that are thinking about doing a SS bike but dont want to spend the cash. Anyone familiar with this sucka? I PM'd Neil to get his input. Just thought i would get more. EDIT: I picked up the frame from Neil today at Adrenaline. Great guy always a joy to talk to and he's like a walking encyclopedia of information. Thanks Neil.
Its the best frame ever! Simply the best in the whole wide world! I hope that helps with my non-biased opinion:lol::lol:!
LOL thanks Neil...you were so convincing i'm going to head over to the shop right now and pick one up!
i might jump on this too. should work fine for a ss/dj/street monster hey Pho'd, what fork were you running there?
guys lemme tell you. Neil hooked it up! it was even better than i thought because they have em in BLACK anodize so you can do the full on stealth look Mine's sitting in my trunk...thanks Neil!
That's a Psylo 125mm fork. Definitely don't run anything below 4". As a SS/DJ/Street Monster I think that frame is perfect. Don't think you'll break it unless you go really huge. (hopefully) I used it as an All-Mountain rig so I got the biggest size they had. Watch it though, the headtube was pretty long on mine. So you'll need a fork with at least 8.5-9" of steer tube. Which means the handlebars are pretty high, but that's perfect if you're going to SSpeed it. The finish is actually pretty nice. Like fake Ti.
Duan you know will have to run a tension device or a WI rear hub with that frame. Just an FYI.........
yah...at the price i got it for i knew what i was getting into. Neil's built a few o these up for SS and was successful...i'll just get a rear tensioner w/ the SS conversion kit
how much did you pick that frame up for? a little OT, neil, I really like the new website! looks great.
My frame was a Large. I'm 5' 11.5" with cycling inseam of 33". I ran the bike with a 100mm stem and 2" Azonic Riser bars. I normally ride frames with about 24" effective top tube length.
didn't know they updated the site finally... found a bug tho... i clicked on frames-mtn and got an index of components :?:
