Looks like Mammoth Mountain Bike Park Season passes go on Sale April 1st for $150.

    http://www.mammothmountain.com/MountainActivities/Passes/MVP10/

Click the "Activity Passes" tab next to the Pricing tab.

So who else is buying one for this summer?

    EDIT:
You can get it for $150 if you buy over the phone instead of the interwebs. No MVP ski pass purchase necessary. Dial 1-800-MAMMOTH.

You forgot to mention that the price is being offered only to those who are purchasing the MVP10 Season Pass for 09/10!!!

Activity Passes for the Mammoth Bike Park, Sierra Star golf course and Tamarack cross country will be available at an exclusive price (“Buy it Now”) to pass purchasers during at the time of pass purchase.

I think Nancy is right, that price is a package deal (skiing included), the regular season pass price is still a great savings deal.

Come on April 1st, come hot weather to melt that snow !!!!

The last I heard, there's -what?- 16ft of snow up there still. It may be a short riding season in Mammoth for '09. Although i'm planning to hit it twice this year, i'll wait a bit to see how long until its actually rideable, before investing in a season pass.

That's the whole problem with buying the early bird season pass, you never know what the season is going to be like. In the olden days before we rode DH we used to go 1x month in the Winter and 2x month all Summer.

They currently have 10-15ft. base and could possible get another 144" by May.

From the way it reads it seems you can purchase ALL the passes OR just the individual passes. MVP just stands for Mammoth Value Pass and they offer their passes at a reduced price and limit the number of passes they give out at that price.

MVP10 is a special offer available April 1-30th only. You must buy this pass in order to be eligible for the early bird bike park pass (it is considered an add-on).

At some point they will offer and early bird bike park season pass, but I doubt it will be that cheap.

What is the Mammoth Value Pass?
The Mammoth Value Pass, or MVP, is the lowest priced, unrestricted season pass we offer. These passes are only sold in April and on a limited basis. Several years ago we closed the sale of MVP passes to the public and only allowed current MVP passholders to renew their pass. For this year only, we are opening the MVP pass sale to the public. By purchasing the MVP10 pass this year, you will remain eligible for MVP passes in the future if you continue to renew.

Why are you opening up the MVP program?
It’s all about volume. When the MVP Club was closed in the 2005/06 season we had the maximum number of passholders we felt the mountain could easily handle without impacting the guest experience. Over the last three seasons, we have seen some attrition in the program – allowing more room for you and your friends and family. Our goal with the MVP is to keep the price as low as possible but we need to offset the low price with higher volume. Purchase a MVP10 and you will remain eligible for future MVP pricing, the best pricing offered. The MVP club will close to new entrants after this year. Don't miss your chance.

At the risk of sounding dumb, what's the riding like on Mammoth in the summer? Is it mostly DH?

No, there are way more AM/XC trails than there are DH. When we go, we usually take both our AM and DH bikes and do 1 day of each. IMHO there are not enough DH trails for 2 days of riding and you miss so much of the other great trails.

Mammoth has exceeded their annual avg snowfall already. We were up there a couple weekends ago and there was 16ft on the mtn. I wouldn't expect mtn biking with the Gondola until June/July unless they get a lot of warm weather in the next couple of months.

If you like to ski/board, the MVP pass is the way to go. This is the first time Mammoth has opened up the pass to the public since the new owners (I think it's Starwood) took over. If you miss the MVP pass, the same pass is sold for $1625 so get in while you can.

We let ours expire a few years ago and were sorry we did. We might have to bite the bullet and buy them again this year.

BTW, does anyone remember how much a Daily Bike Park pass was last summer?

I believe I paid $72 for two days for closing weekend last year.

but still, if you go 3 times, you've already paid for the early bird pass and then some. I already plan on closing weekend, and a few weekends beforehand, so it's worthwhile to me.

$39.00 per day at Bike Park last year, with the exception of closing weekend when special pricing is offered.

Last year by the fifth day (or two three day weekends) its paid for its self, the savings really helps with gas and lodging.

iirc, that price was printed on their price board when I bought my ticket. I don't recall any special closing weekend pricing. it was just cheaper to get 2 days instead of 1

With that much snow, I would imagine sometime in July before they get all the trails open

FYI, N* is only open Thurs-Sunday this year. Might see more people during the week at Mammoth.

I made the plunge you can get the bike pass for an extra $150.00. I'm so ready for the bike season. I wish it was not so short
