Hey guys, we are planning a trip to ride the lifts at Mammoth during the week of June 26th which is a few days after the park opens for riding (the website says it opens on the 24th)

How much of the park will be closed if we go that early? I remember seeing a thread about the record snowfall this year and its got us a little worried that the best trails will be closed.

What was it like last year at around this time?

    thanks.

Haha, he said lifts....When Mammoth says they're opening in June, that means the shuttle bus will be open for riding. Downtown will probably be open, but that's about it. Mammoth has been getting snow still eventhough it's melting steadily. You'll be better off riding Lower Rock Creek. I still remember guys pedaling their DH bikes on Downtown, no thanks. If you board or ski, I'd bring those along too.

Well, this sure is a bust. Thanks for the warnings, guys. I'll see if we can switch dates to later in the summer.

it was closed tue and wed. weekends only i think. i hiked past 23 from the gondy on tue, ski patrol only cut as far as 23. i dropped skiers right to the closed sign(on the open side), whipeout chutes, did 2 big turns and the whole face slid down. i cut hard left and watched the whole thing slide. looked back up and there was a nice foot deep fracture about 100 yards long and 10 feet wide. pretty scary chit!:-k

At this rate, i'm wondering if they'll even open the MTB trails from the top of the mountain this season?

Maybe there will be a few good weeks of riding before closing weekend in September.

Its sounding like you will be better off hitting up lower rock creek. Weather up here has been weird this year, so it can swing either way in terms of when stuff will open. We've been getting tons of snow, but at the same time some very hot weather when its not snowing. Last time i was chatting with maintenance it was seeming like a strong possibility of opening up more lifts on the canyon side.

Don't even think about going to Mammoth for mountain biking until at least late July to early August.
