I have a machete from HF...there is a reason they are 6 bucks...the handle gets fried real quick and the blade cant hold an edge. Good for the luge though!

Sorry it took long but here are a few pictures from the "STT First Leg Crew" ... unfortunatley I am curious about home much held up after this AM. Not sure why the pics are a bit blurry..hmmm maybe some moisture on the lens.

Sorry I couldn't make it to the Jan. 2nd Luge clean up, had a pet adoption event to help run. Any more work planned in the near future? I know I can give a few hours this weekend....

Does this mean the Luge is going to be ride-able this week?

    No more hike-a-bikes.

Our work over the last two weeks, and especially last Sunday, cleaned everything up. Just did a lap and it was a blast. Still wet in a few spots, but perfect everywhere else. With another couple days of drying, it'll be prime everywhere except the big mudslide near the bottom.

Thanks again to the 42 people who put in nearly 300 hours of work and got the STT and Luge back in great shape

FYI: There's a new drop about halfway down the Luge that's pretty fun. It can be rolled or launched(!) and it's a nice new addition to the trail :)

 Does a mental picture count? (I was racing the clock and it was almost dark so sorry, no photo.) But here's one of it being built :)

I rode this afternoon as well... as Jim says a few muddy spots (dirty bike) but lots of fun. If an old man can do it... so can you. Should be preemo for this weekend. The last day or so of rain did not do much to the trail... Great work, Jim!

Wow you guys did alot of work I just rode the luge and for the most part it was rideable , some spots had some thick and very wet mud that brought you to a complete stop, after looking at some of the pictures on the trail cleanup it was pretty bad, you all that worked on the trail did incredible work congratulations. And thanks for making it rideable for all of us...

I rode the Luge on Sunday before we got more rain and I just want to say thanks to all the people out there working on it. The trail was in great shape (considering all the rain & slides we've had) and the actual luge was looking nice. I was the guy on the white Tracer VP who failed to rail the new berm after your encouragement....ha. Sorry, I was having issues with new shoes not fully clipping in (one popped out during one of the new drops going down the luge, that was exciting). Not really an excuse, as I pretty much suck at railing berms, but thanks again!

It's near the bottom of the Luge..

No worries.. it comes up pretty quick and I almost missed it myself. That's why I don't think trail work's really done until you ride it. I think the finishing touch for that turn will be to improve the sightline coming into the corner so you can set up for it earlier.

We rode last night...and out and back...not down the Luge. The STT has held up pretty good, it is more "active riding" now...kinda fun. And I will say it was pretty cool riding on some of the sections me and the folks I was working with fixed. I am just a squib when it comes to trail work but it is pretty cool. We did the fix on the major slide before Puke Hill and some other areas...did smile a little extra!

At Jim's suggestion, I rode up the Luge this morning. They had some rain last night which brough more moisture to the trail, but it's holding up fine. Hard to ride up the steps with the mud on the tires. Rode on up to Old Camp. A couple of problem areas on the north side of the hill has slid and are still quite muddy. Rideable but it needs quite a bit more TLC. The last half mile up to the helo pad before dropping down into Old Camp has a rut down the center of the trail. Will need to install some water bars or this will continue to get worse... makes it interesting going up. Ran into Roxanne on the way down at the flag. The trip back down the Luge was a lot more fun than going up!

I predict that this trail will get a lot of use this weekend as it's in really nice condition except for a few muddy spots... oh well, it's a mountain biking trail not a bike pat!h

You got that right. Plus its just about the only trail aside from SJT open for business.

I know about that rut, and actually don't want it fixed. That part of the trail was a lot more technical before the fire, but then the bulldozer came in and tore out the canopy and covered all the rocky areas. I'd like to see them back, and hope that rut eventually exposes them.

Good job riding UP the Luge, especially in wet conditions!

You guys did a great job over there and I had a good time riding it. Feels less like a road and more like a trail. I'll probably go out this weekend and make some minor tweaks, but I like the "active riding" you're talking about.
