Is there any trail in LA/OC that has a decent miles with good DROPS and technical sections (rock gardens, slalom, etc..)? shuttle run is a ++++

    Thanks,
    j.

Try Chaquito in the Ortega area, plenty of tech stuff. Or for fun, but short tech rides try fontana.

Chiquito will yield more results :)

from what I've seen, that looks like a fun one. Stairsteps in Aliso is also pretty fun. It's shuttleable, but rather short I suppose.

I would be willing to ride with you. We could do upper San Juan, which is fast and fun. Jumps included. Up viejo tie ( this part sucks, short HAB) then down chaquito. You can see routes and pics on geo ladders. Here is a few pics.

BigHit8: if the parking lot is at Bluejay camp ground (shuttle).. I believe I've done that once! it was soo much fun... and would do it again even if its 55miles (one way) from me

Thats why we shuttle blue jay 10 minutes to the top. Suicide is a little farther, but plenty of other trails to ride in the area.

    Mt. Wilson, anyone?

It's not SUPER tech, nor are there huge drops.
There's plenty of exposure and you get about a 14 mile DH ride on single shuttle.

my friends computer clocked it 17miles... fun trail... I just hate the first hike a bike part... so we do a short shuttle with 2+ mile of climb... so we start at the fun part of it.. the DH part that we do is right after the Ruins...

Define "DH"???? ;) It's sooooo funny that every time a new person joins STR, they ask the same questions....... Try using the "Search" Feature!!!!!

FWIW, basically, most of the real DH riding is done in small groups and the rides are done via PM and not posted on the calendar. This is due to the fact that large group DH rides are frowned upon on multi-use trails. Yes, Wilson, SJT and some other local trails can be done as shuttles but most are more appropriate for an AM/FR bike so that you can pedal up as well as down!!!

Thanks, I tried that route already.. searching and all.. found some good ones... I was not looking for a hardcore DH trail... just more like fun and messing around trail.. like you said I might just be looking for an ALL MOUNTAIN thing.. kindda like a little bit of everything in one trail... I had no plans of bombing down at an excess of 25+ mph.. just want to have fun at a moderate speed... I guess when a person say's DH they literally exaggerate the definition of DH as all out hardcore bone breaking type of ride... I'm just going Down a Hill!

Thanks for clarifying! For those of us hardcore DH'ers, you are correct, when you say "DH" we do think of going in excess of 25+ mph!!!:bang:
