This is an FYI for some of you that have been following this story. Looks like all those emails helped to rectify this situation: From: Dona Reynolds [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, March 26, 2005 7:00 PM To: Volunteers Subject: Release by family DUE TO OVERWHELMING SUPPORT, FOR OUR SON MARK REYNOLDS, AN AVID BIKER IN THE LAST WEEK. OUR INTENTION WAS NOT TO UPSET HIS FRIENDS, FELLOW BIKERS, BIKING CLUBS AND NATIONAL BIKING ASSOCIATIONS, BIKING RELATED COMPANIES, NOR THE TRAILS IN WHICH THE ENJOYMENT OF BIKING PREVAILS. THE REYNOLDS FAMILY FELT SAFETY ISSUES WERE A PRIME CONCERN. LEGAL COUNCIL WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO DISMISS THE FILING IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA. SINCERELY, GARY & DONA REYNOLDS
That is awesome, however when they say that "OUR INTENTION WAS NOT TO UPSET HIS FRIENDS, FELLOW BIKERS, BIKING CLUBS AND NATIONAL BIKING ASSOCIATIONS, BIKING RELATED COMPANIES, NOR THE TRAILS IN WHICH THE ENJOYMENT OF BIKING PREVAILS. THE REYNOLDS FAMILY FELT SAFETY ISSUES WERE A PRIME CONCERN", then what else does that leave other than MONEY being there only intention. Come on now "safety issues", give me a break. There are millions of safety issues we all face the second we step outside our front door's. It is great that they dismissed the suit, but it still doesn't change the way I look at them after they had the nerve to even attempt this slimy suit.
I am extremely sorry for the loss of the Reynolds family; it's something I would never want anybody to go through. That being said, I am very happy that they haven decided to withdraw their lawsuit. If the lawsuit were to continue, it would only hinder MTBers, hikers, and equestrians from using the trails that Mark had so much fun on.
I'm glad they came to their senses......Hopefully the family of the racer who crashed while riding, out of bounds, in Big Bear follows suit...
