The words "healthy" and "late night" are oxymoron's. No such thing, unless you're working the grave yard shift and your nights are your days. Water satisfies 90% of the cravings at night, if you give it a chance and avoid sweet temptations. Good ol' fashioned sex does the trick too. Oh wait, that usually makes me hungrier...never mind!

Frozen Veggies, Veggie Patties (morning star, or the Tex Mex ones at Trader Joes), or maybe some of those frozen turkey meatballs from TJs too.

    Stir Fry.

When I was in college I get really efficient at cooking for myself. Start cooking rice as soon as you get home. Dice some chicken breasts and stir fry in lite oil, toss in so some frozen veggies with some seasoning, or somekind sauce of your choice (e.g. soy sauce, terriyaki etc.). You should be eating in 20min. or so. Even faster just skip the rice and eat the stir fry or a bed of lettuce or something.

Whole Grain pasta and spaghetti sauce?

All these suggestions are awesome and true and will lead to the most healthiest lifestyle possible...

BUT are these suggestions realistic for you and your gf at this time? If they are, GREAT! Cook at home, pack your own stuff, try not to snack late, etc. etc.

Like MtnKitty said, it's all in the flexibility. You have to work with what you got. If you can avoid eating out, sure, do avoid it, but if that's what you guys do to spend time together or don't have the time to cook, start looking at the nutrition facts of some of the places you often go to! See if you can chose the healthier options. Start packing stuff from home slowly (dressings, stuff to go with the healthier options on the menus) or cooking at home a few of the nights until you get used to it and in the habit.

Going out late every night to eat, if that is your routine, won't be easy to stop completely right away. Make the transition easier by slowly incorporatng the suggestions posted by everyone.

Or if you are both highly motivated just go straight to the all healthist stuff now! :bang: Just be careful to not completely deprive yourself to the point that when things get really late or really stressful or you guys are really tired and hungry, you break down and go crazy, not caring what the healthier option is...

Carbs at night are not bad, just stick to low glycemic ones, i.e. fruits and veggies!

If I were in your shoes, I would keep some simple meal replacement bars on hand for those late night feedings. Tons to choose from. What's easier than that??

That's what we do. Stop @ Ralph's and buy your favorite bottle of wine, a can of chopped chicken, a head of lettuce, maybe a little green onion and a bottle of Thai peanut sauce. Mmmmmmm.....or substitute ice cold water for the vino, but what fun is that. :?:

Zankou isn't too far from Eagle Rock.

Split a Tarna plate. Or just get the Tarna sandwich with out sauce.

I was thinking the same thing as far as finding "healthy" late night food. More often than not I end up in the Del Taco drive thru ordering a classic chicken burrito at like 1 in the morning when I could probably just go home and pass out.

Plan ahead. Costco for one-stop shopping.
They have an amazing pack of assorted lettuces, super-fresh spinach, celery, carrots, passable tomatoes, and nice strawberries. Whip up a vinaigrette, and you have an awesome salad. That's been our dinner for the past two evenings. Right now, my after work snack is also from Costco: cashews (salted, sorry Allison) and dried fruit.
