I can see snow on mountains that are around 5,000 elevation. The bottom of the trail at Mt. Pinos is around 6,000 elevation and the parking lot at the top is around 8,300'.

For reference, Big Bear Lake is around 6,700' elevation and the top of Snow Summit is a little under 8,200' elevation.

Some of my relatives were there over the weekend (at the base, very near the trail head). As of Sunday, there was 2-3 feet of snow on the ground. I'm no Jackie Johnson but it's safe to assume you won't be riding rubber tires there until at least end of March, maybe April. Pic below was from Sunday morning...

There is a ton of snow on the mountain. No riding anytime soon.

    Mt Pinos Trail Conditions?

Anyone know what it's like? Is there still much snow? I'd like to ride it (1st time) this weekend and wanted to make sure it was a go...Thanks.

    Apologies for reviving this.
Has anyone made it up there recently? We've been getting a lot of sun and their snow report says only 0-3" at 8,000'

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm sure the snow is long gone, just wondering about the conditions.

I would think snow on the north side. We just had visible snow on the front range three weeks ago. MM says 11.5 to 20 feet with lower runs still open

Just shoot me now. I don't know my Piños from Piños...

I guess most people would know the Santa Anas don't have snow now.

I have never ridden there. Is it worth the drive from Irvine? I was thinking on checking it out maybe Memorial Weekend.
    Anybody has a suggested route?

In case anyone wants to see the condition of the trail. Its bone dry for the most part, with lotsa pine needles and a few spots with scratchy scrub oak or some other skin clawing thorn bush.

The top from the base down to the first road crossing is kindy sketchy, will keep you on your toes. The snow patches add some fun...and the creek crossing is cold!
