I think I've come up with a pretty good VQ training ride if anyone is looking for one in the next few weeks.

    The route:
    • Up San Juan Trail from the bottom to Blue Jay (11 miles, 3500ft of climbing)
    • Blue Jay up to the top of Trabuco (2.5 miles, 1200ft of climbing)
    • Down Trabuco (5.2mi)
    • Up Holy Jim (5mi, 2200ft of climbing)
    • Down ITT (6.8 miles, 200ft of climbing?)
    • Up ITT (6.8mi, 2600ft of climbing)
    • Holy Jim over to top of Trabuco (7.5~ miles, totally guessing on climbing around 1500ft?)
    • Trabuco down to Blue Jay (1.5mi)
    • Blue Jay to San Juan Trail via lollipop loop, and down to start (11 miles, 760ft of climbing)
    Total mileage: 58? miles
Total climbing: More than likely around 11,500ft

    Happy Trails!

Friendly reminder that for those *not* racing SRC, there are only two more weekends for training! For those of us racing SRC, only one!

Would there happen to be a CC training route? Perhaps the same route minus ITT?

Definitely a possibility. Keith and Sarah did it a few weeks ago. I think it wound up being around 46mi and around 8500ft of climbing?

We are doing it this weekend, but not as a group training ride. Others are welcome to do the same route, but don't wait up for us :)

BTW, I don't mean to come off as rude. We're starting basically at first light in the morning, and bringing lights. Our group has a decent/even pace and will stick together, but due to the extreme length of time and difficulty, probably won't be able to ride with others. If you guys get together a group and want to head out that is cool also! It's always nice seeing others on the trail. But, unfortunately we won't have time to be remotely social!

We probably won't even be social with each other! It's amazing the silent suffering that can be shared without speaking.

I think Justin is the only one truly looking forward to it.

But, as I told Steph Saturday.. if we can do this ride, we can do VQ.

I'm sure you guys will have a blast as well!! We can compare horror stories when we return

    Our sentiments exactly!

Aside from climbing way more singletrack than VQ, the route is fairly close.

My estimation is probably slightly more than what we'll do at least in once instance. I *highly* doubt anyone will argue with turning around at the ITT gate, which means we'll cut out at least a mile total riding, and probably 100-200ft of climbing
