What are you people doing to your Reba's?! I own two and Justin has one. He has had his since March 06 and it has not been serviced ONCE! Mine from Nov 06 hasn't either, and despite quite a bit of mileage on my new one, no issues yet.

    :-k

Jeff - can't wait to see it, bud.

Sounds like a good build. I love the 08 XT drivetrain and brakes. One thing I would change though are the rims. I would probably go with at least Arches (or even Flows).

I don't know how well the 355s will hold up to aggressive riding. Then again, I don't know how much you weigh. If you're like 140lbs or under - they might be ok.

Go Flow rims. Worth the extra 60g per rim over arches. Wider, stiffer.

Voodoo Canzo. Best Bang for the FS 29er buck!

    I'm going w/ 355's until/if I taco them. Then I'll know they're too lightweight.

I am easy on rims, but I'm not light. We shall see how it goes. :)

Duan, I know you're pissed about your Reba. It happens, but the overwhelming majority have had good experiences with this fork.

If you're looking for reliability I'd stay away from the Manitou. I hear the performance is pretty good. On par with the Reba. But there are tons of threads on MTBR with folks having clunking sound issues with the forks. Crazy, they're all opening the forks up and the internals are slightly different many of the forks. And this is a first year production run!

Oh, I wouldn't open up that fork either and work on it. Unless you got the hands of wee lil' girl. My buddy, and the guys at the shop all seem to say the internals on that for are fragile!

So, I was going to be stubborn and run 355's, but my guy hadn't ordered the rims yet, so I went and did a last bit of homework.

For 20g total, it's not worth doing the 355's if they're as weak as everyone says they are. :) Arches it is.

Ok, really, I'm done. Maybe. ;)

    Thanks for the advice everyone!
