Wow, that video is very graphic and extremely disturbing. I don't think it should be viewed. Especially considering the poor kid died from it. Made me very nauseous, seriously. Out of respect for him and his family, please remove both links. What a shame and waste of a young life.

That's horrible news. I saw the video of the crash and it was savage. So was the treatment by the EMTs down there in Costa Rica.

yeah, apparently he crashed doing the same trick last year and walked away from it.
Its sad, theres another video on youtube, after the crash, one of his fellow riders runs over and is by his side.
    Very Sad indeed.
i'm surprised they can keep that on youtube

???? are you referencing something specific. i can only imagine the tech/skill for such an injury pales in comp to what we can do is US but above that was something else done.

unfortunatly i have some experience with LDC (chile)med and it sux a$$

I am one who can normally watch this kind of stuff but that one actually really creaped me out. The one where they show the EMTs is just plain disgusting they dont seem to have any idea what they are doing. The last thing you do is turn them over, especially with no one supporting his head while doing it.

That is terrible news. The things that Jeremy did, along with Travis Pastrana and Kyle Loza (and of course a host of others as well...) have always been simply death-defying. Not this time. Very sad.

    I can't (won't ) watch the vid. :(

That's so sad. Thanks Joe, I'll take your word for it and not watch it.

that was a terrible crash. he landed really hard, i wonder if a leatt brace would have helped.

when i heard it was in costa rica, the first thing that came to my mind was the medical care.

    very sad indeed.

for those smart enough to watch, basically he under rotates, goes off the front,
his head hits on the mouthgaurd, and his body folds over his neck, and you see his legs tension up, then his head snaps around and he goes Limp.
Not a pretty video by any means.

I was thinking the same thing but when I read he died of the head injuries and didn't even know if there was spinal cord injuries. The leatt brace may have helped prevent the spinal injures(there had to be some) but the severe brain damage was due to the force of impact more then anything. Hopefully this will help sway more of them to ride with the brace regardless.

I figured at that point it was over, they had already done the damage before that but yeah that was pretty bad too.

If I was them I would never ride at an event like that without their own medical crew force them to bring those who cover these events in the US. I dont know it would have helped in this case though.

I dont know if it would have helped either, but it is Medical Responder 101 not to run to avoid falling and hurting yourself and preventing you from helping the injured or falling and dropping the patient.

These guys seemed in a panic.

your right, the leatt would have help the spine, but with the force of the crash it wouldn't have done anything for the brain damage.

I think I saw Bartram wearing the brace.

Honestly when I saw the headline, I was thinking it was Pastrana. That kid is crazy.

From the reports I read on Sunday, there were no broken bones in his neck or back (which I find amazing):

Wow that is quite surprising. So out of pure curiosity I had to watch it again. It actually appears that he doesnt land on top of his head but on the side and rolls around his head. Landing on the top of your head is the worst as it allows compression fractures to happen much easier.
