That last descent, just before you get to the pavement..... We'd already done 20 miles up in them thar hills. We'd gone down the ridge, jumping a little bit, drifting around in the slate, Then on that last descent, I'd taken a bit fast flew down it. The guy behind me followed me in, keeping his distance, first time down the feature, and he somehow locked his front tire in the rut at 90 degrees and it launched him over the bar. By the time I looked back, he was already picking up his bike. Nothing serious, but it looked pretty ugly. Brown powder all over him, two bruised and bleeding knees, both lower legs scratched up badly, no head trauma (thank God), but he somehow got his big chain ring to tat up both calves (yikes). He's fine, but I'm sure its going to hurt tomorrow.
Is there anything worse that that feeling You get right before You go over the bars ? Almost as bad as immediately after the landing.
