I was checking these bikes out the other day...anyone have any experience with them? I was thinking of using it as a light freeride kinda do-it-all rig. whats the thoughts on that...good? bad?

The reviews of it are great, its a great bike for a do everything bike, it can take big hits, and can be pedalled the only downside is its heavy, and is short on rear wheel travel. So its fine for jumping things, maybe not as fun on huge drops and eating up rock gardens.

i almost bought one used from craigslist but the owner backed out, he said he found out they had issues with the rear chainstays snapping, so i didn't get it. mtbr.com has a jamis forum you can check out, it seems like it's somewhat common though

Dont buy it! Try searching on mtbr and youll see what I mean. Most parker post are about broke chainstays or dropouts. My chainstay was replaced once already for a crack and now has a cracked bearing on the chainstay pivot. I love the bike but just dont trust it, which is why ive been parting it out. Save some more and get a Bottle Rocket. Just my 2 cents, do what you want.

Jamis did have an issue with the swingarm on the Parkers, but they were recalled and have been replaced at this point. Any Parker on the market now, should have a new swingarm. IMO, it's a great bike for the money!

I was just looking at those today, the 2009's are suppose to have an updated rear triangle to fix that issue. I'm looking at getting that same bike as well...price is right and I'm hoping it can take some decently large drops as well. Good luck man!
