Did quite a bit of riding this year (mostly road). Stuff I did:

Road Mammoth for the first time (cleared all the blue jumps on pipeline!)

JensonsUSA shop ride to Huntington
Incycle shop ride San Dimas
Rode a lot with Victor Valley Bike Club

My lovely wife and I rode our first metric century, completed the Crestline climb, got a couple of KOM on strava, road 600+ miles in month, and we both have broken bones now.

2012 was a great year for me - Lots of progression riding both uphill and down.

 

Nice GLC launch Garrett.. hey when did you switch from DH to more trail centric? Thought you were always more into DH.. anyway, cool pics regardless.. Jim

 

Thanks Jim. I started doing more trail riding earlier this year when I sold the DH bike and put the money towards the Nomad, which I've found to be the perfect SoCal do-it-all steed. Living literally right next to Aliso makes it a lot more convenient for trail/AM riding than DH, so having a more pedaly bike made more sense

Whistler definitely made me want to build up another DH bike though...maybe next year :bang:

This year, 2012, was by far the best year of mountain biking I have ever had. I was able to travel to places I had never been, meet and spend time with people I have the pleasure of now calling friends and take my abilities to levels I never thought possible.
This community, STR, is fantastic. Granted, every other thread is someone complaining about utterly pointless topics, but like a dysfunctional family, everyone manages to have an outstanding time while away from their keyboards.
I understand this post is meant to be a year end review of the fantastic rides one has been on, but I’m dysfunctional and I chose to write and show pictures of my year of mountain biking.



I started with this, a 2012 Giant Reign 0. (leftover from the Trance I destroyed in 2011)


Then, sadly, it met its demise. 4 rides in.


BUT, the mtb gods were smiling on me. I had the opportunity to get this bike.


I got it and it was time for the first ride (on prototype Hans Damfs of course)


I took it to the Luge. Where else are you suppose to break in a new bike?


We went to Sycamore. I earned my baby wings


And pretended to be an ATV


Then we went to Turnbull.


I then decided I would try night riding... this was the result






I started riding A LOT during the summer


I went to MAMMOTH!!!

Mammoth was in June... The snow wasn't quite done with us.
