    LeMans start! LOL!

That would be a good video opening.

I'd recommend not parking at Ralphs, but instead in the bigger lot accross Portola beyond McDonalds. This many cars would be a towing service's dream and Ralphs has signs up.

I'd also like to recommend Rudy's for a after ride, lunch-time beer. The place is brand new, the service is friendly, and there is a fairly large patio to enjoy the good weather. Oh and beer.

    +1 for Rudys.

Good food... and adult beverages... and like 20 flat screens to watch crap-loads of sports while you're re-fueling.

Go to the calendar, select the date/ride and RSVP that way.

The Mervyn's has closed and is closer to the trailhead than Target/Rudy's. This would be a big open area for everyone and no businesses will be impacted.

Hey I've never been to Whiting Ranch. Are these the correct directions to get me near all the parking lot locations near Ralphs, McD's , MervynsF From Interstate 5, take the Lake Forest exit and proceed to Portola Parkway (approximately 5 miles), turn left on Portola Parkway, then continue 1/2 mile to Market, then make a right. Parking lot and entrance is to your immediate left.

Has there been a previous ride with 80+ members before? if so, any cool stories to tell? if not, what was the largest group ride? any other cool stories to tell?

I don't know I saw some footage on YouTube, it scared the crap out of me. Look really narrow with steep dropoff on the side. The El Morro / Old Emerald stuff didn't have near death off to one side. :)

Probably didn't help reading a couple of Rider Down Reports from The Luge. #-o

I'm a total wuss and I don't think the Luge is as bad as Old Emerald. You'll be fine :)

That'll get you to the official Whiting Ranch pay lot, which only holds about 15 cars and could easily be full by 10am on a weekend, even without our group. Go across the street and you'll see McD's, Outback, and a whole lotta STR peeps.

BikeThePlanet - if you were OK on Old Emerald, you'd be OK on Luge, just maybe a little slow in one or two spots. I am a huge wuss about cliffs, but Luge doesn't bother me much. And if you could climb out of Emerald Canyon, you'd be fine on STT, especially at mega-group pace.

I must not have been on Old Emerald then. :)

I don't know what I rode, dirtvert took me through. Nothing too serious though.

Could well have been Old Emerald. You can't really judge the Luge by comparing to a vid, since the wide angle lens usually makes the exposure look worse than it is.

If I remember the post right, dirtvert said you rode Old Emerald and Fenceline/Missing link. You'd be OK on Luge.
