i dont think you can take up the 22 tooth difference with a ss short my SS rear derailers barely worked with a 34 cassette

    that's interesting...

from the looks of things, the shadow rear mechs seem to need a longer cage to maintain a given tooth capacity. from those specs that mfoga posted, the tooth capacity on a shadow saint mech is only 23 teeth. that's only going to cover a single ring.

on the other hand, sram shorties have a 30t capacity, which will just about cover a 22-33 front ring combo. you'd need to do some playing to see if it actually would work though...

so SRAM might work for a 22-32 front with an 11-32 cassette. there may be some unusable gear ratios there though too in either gear. shimano wont work at all...

they come clearcoated, not raw. it's just that the clearcoat is permeable, and you'll notice a bit of rusting after awhile. My friend had a gimp (mentioned by on-one on the site), and it didn't seem like the rust was doing anything to the bike. just little veins here and there, which actually gave the bike some character.

I suppose it would be fine for awhile, and you could get it prepped/powdered later if it's becoming a problem. You can see any surface rust right through the clearcoat, so You'll know where there's a problem. spray the inside of the bike with frame-saver too if you're really paranoid.
