I'm finalizing my parts list for my dream bike.
I wanted to get any feedback/ thoughts before I make the order. I haven't bought a new bike in three years, but I wanted to get the latest greatest.. so any comments appreciated.

Frame: Intense Uzzi VP - works blue (like Denmothers)
Shock: Cane Creek Double Barrel with Ti spring
    Fork: Fox 36 Van RC2 - 1.5" head
Wheels: Chris King ISO hubs (gold) with Mavic 521 rims, DT spokes, brass nips
    Headset: Chris King 1.5" (gold)
Stem: Thomson Elite X4 50mm (black)
    Bars: Easton Monkey EA70
    Brakes: Avid Elixir CR - 203mm F/R
    Shifters: SRAM XO
    Derailleur: SRAM XO
    Cranks: Shimano XTR
    Bottom Bracket: Chris King (gold)
    Seatpost: Thomson Elite
    Seat: SDG Bel-Air
    Cassette: Shimano XT
    Chain: SRAM PC-991
    Tires: not sure

My biggest hang-up is to go tubeless or not. If I did, I'd put the Mavic 823's on there. The other hangup is the brakes... debating Hope M4 or Formula TheOnes.

    Keep the Elixir CR's...

    Your bike build is rape.

On a scale from 1 to awesome? Somewhere near an 11, but i'd hate to see your credit card bill! Sick bike for sure.

My vote would be for the SRAM 990 cassette rather than the XT, but that is personal preference. XTR cranks come with chainrings if you're buying new unless I'm missing some benefit of putting other rings on.

As for tubeless... do it and don't look back. 823's are great rims.

Formula the One's might be pricey but unlike your King hubs, the price doesn't get you performance. Stick with the Avids, the Formulas aren't worth the trouble.

Sounds like my dream bike. Nice choices. I agree with your notes on the brakes M4's are the way to go. I ride tubeless and the 823's will simplify having tubeless wheels and I think Mavic wheels are a little stiffer.

Seems like a solid build. For a bike designed to ridden aggressively, I'd make a couple changes: Totem fork instead of the Van, tubeless wheels (823), forget the XO rear derailleur - it's just going to get smashed anyway and you'll never notice the performance difference over the X-9 which is a lot less $. Also forgive my ignorance but do XT chainrings even fit XTR cranks?

I personally can't stand Hope brakes. I would use the elixers that you have spec'd out. I am looking forward to the new Saints on my new build. I have the older ones and love them. I would also run Saint cranks over XTRs for price and looks, but either way that is a sweet build. I'm also addicted to wider bars. You like the steeper HA with the shorter fork?

Rape is the new word for cool or tits.

For example; "That girl looks so Rape".

    Also, rape can refer to having a good time;
"We were flying down the trail and just raped it!"
"we had so much fun on it, we went back and raped it again!"

    You have to be careful when using this term tho;
"Father Murphy and I were having a raping good time"
...could mean you should quit the alter boy gig.

That Uzzi is going to be a serial trail rapist.

I'm with Craig on the XO, ditch it and get the X-9.

good stuff, but a few things:

Unless you're a big fox fan, consider taking a look at the 2010 rockshox Lyrik. you will have the option of 170mm travel (good middle ground between the shorter forks and a totem), and you have the option of getting a mission control DH damper (dual flow rebound, no gate valve) for better descending.

consider a low-stack headset. keeps you front end lower for better cornering/climbing. you'd have to run a 1 1/8" head tube, but I doubt you'll notice the difference unless you're a heavier guy or you're planning on doing SERIOUS freeriding with it. a cane creek doubleXC flush would fit the bill nice, or e.13 cups with FSA impact bearings. plus, the kings don't have a compression ring, so they move and creak and are generally annoying, especially with a longer fork.

maybe consider DT 5.1's for your rims. lighter than 823, but still tubeless capable. 823 are overkill for most anything but a DH bike or if you're heavier (which I don't know). if you're willing to roll the extra weight, just go for it though. easy tubeless is an awesome thing.

you could probably get away with alloy nipples. lighter, blinger, etc. again, depends on weight/riding style.

brakes: I'd go with the hope tech X4, shimano 775 XT, or 4-pot saints if you need the power (again, if you're a big guy). like werldcup said, ONEs are good, light brakes, but they are very spendy and not necessarily worth the extra coin from what I've felt.

if you wanna keep the bling rolling: raceface atlas handlebars, in GOLD. wide, good feeling sweep.

also, if you're spending the money, why not get a thomson masterpiece post? lighter, same strength, more bling.

tires: grippy front, fast rear would be a good combo. I'd say minion DHF 2.5 front, 2.35 highroller rear.

finally, I'd consider getting a dual ring chainguide for it. it sucks to have chainsuck, so to speak. I'd say E.13 DRS. on a similar topic, last I checked there wasn't an XO front derailleur. a shimano XTR will work fine though.

and naturally, take my ideas with a grain of salt. I'm a DHer at heart, and would tailor the bike as such.

    823's

This combo is flawless. Works awesome on my nomad :)

Thanks for all the comments so far (and some good catches on the chainrings and front derailleur)... given me some food for thought tonite! I've been saving up and am really anxious to get this thing built!

    That's hysterical!

Is this to actually ride or hang up next to your other rarely used bikes?

    ouch.
that hurts like a kick in the nads. #-o

even tho I don't ride them.. I still love them. I gaze at them longingly in the evenings when the kids are asleep. I make empty promises to them that I will ride them again someday.

Mostly high end components, but I am a little confused as to whether you are trying to build an AM build or FR build. Some parts are more suited for AM/XC, and others FR. Depending on which one, I would swap out some parts.

Yeah, looking for more of an AM side of FR build (or a burlier AM bike) hence the 160mm fork to line me up with a 67.5 head tube angle... something in the mid to low 30lb range.

I have a Santa Cruz VP Free with a Fifth Element and 888RC's for the bigger stuff... but with the triple crown forks, 40lbs, slack geo, 66 deg head angle.. it's a little much for those long or tight climbs.

but like good old slappy Nick so nicely pointed out, the VP Free will likely collect dust after the Uzzi arrives. I should probably find it a deserving home.
