I'm thinking you're more notorious than infamous, but, either way- good lesson, great story, and get bettah!
Wow, great job on getting the coverage. Its always the "Just in case" stuff that really make a difference. Heal up fast but correctly.
OK, here goes. Broke my femur skiing at age 12 in 1976. Treatment at the time was two months in traction, in the hospital. Got a bloodclot (surprise, surprise). Was teated for said clot, but vascular damage done. Fast forward to 1996. Another blood clot due to scar tissue and blown veins from original injury. Heparin, then Coumadin, then off. Another clot in 1997 and it's Coumadin for life baby! See my post under http://www.socaltrailriders.org/for...while-taking-blood-thinners-2.html#post943695, for those who have nothing better to do than follow my tales of woe and triumph. Sounds like you have it under control, Mr. Infamous. What are you infamous for?
Man, I'm sorry to hear about that. I trust my ortho who seems to think what I'm doing will work, but your comments will lead me to do a bit more research. Thanks for that! What am I infamous for? Probably a lot of things. I'm an old BMX guy and Gork called me "infamous" a couple of times in BMX Action back in the 80s, so I've ran with with it. You can decide for yourself!
Try here, price might change with the length of coverage. http://www.imglobal.com/img-insurance/travel-medical-insurance/patriot-travel-medical-insurance.aspx you'll have to add Adventure Sports Rider or else, you're not covered for biking accidents.
A "not very technical" trail has six foot ladder drops? I don't think I'm prepared for Whistler. Bad luck on the fall, good luck on the recovery; and smart choice with the insurance.
No, the intended drop was only maybe three feet at most onto a nice sloping landing. Riding off the side, where you're not supposed to, was slightly bigger! Whistler is an amazing place with trails and features for virtually any level of rider. Get up there!
I agree 100%.. the drop is nothing.. very smooth.. not big at all.. but like many ladders on the mtn, the intended drop vs falling off the side while rolling in can be quite different..
Totally agree, which is what is so frustrating - broke my leg in an effort to hit a drop that felt akin to dropping off of a curb. DOH!
At least you had a chance to ride Whistler. Some of us here might not ever have a chance to go. Good times heal fast for more burn!
Good luck on the recovery. Ditto on AFLAC. I crashed in Aliso, May 15th of this year and resulted in a broken collar bone. Surgery was required. Out of work for 3 weeks. Looking back, the only thing that didnt suck about this accident was that I had enrolled myself into AFLAC in Jan 2012. Be Safe Out There!
Broken femur? Damn that's gnarly! At least it wasn't a compound! I always get travel insurance for every trip where I have to pay for airfare or a room. Injury and airline cancellations can happen at any time. Take it easy--like you have a choice!
