Paging the Sherpa! You started this thread...the people want an update. Get your lazy, sulking ass off the couch, TiVO "Greatest American Hero", take a damn shower, and give us an update (and some pictures)!

the lack of pictures is disturbing. maybe this is just another "balloon boy" episode. i was there, but i'm starting to doubt if it really happened...

Heal up man. Sorry I missed that trip. Had kid duty. As far as the ankle, been there and done that. You will be glad you got it done. It took 4 previous breaks/sprains for me to realize that. Oh and Doug I still have your gloves from the MS ride.

Yep, it was me - I went sideways on a slippery downhill & neglected to "tuck & roll". And yes it felt AWESOME to have the cast removed, although my hand is pretty week and stiff.

I never thought I'd get excited about putting my road bike on a trainer.

Cheers to you and your speedy recovery

Transverse spiral fracture of the proximal fibula. In the first photo it looks like the real problem is the printer and monitor inside the bone. I think I even see a bush!:?::lol::lol:

Sorry dude. That's strike two on the broken bones, right?

Good luck man, find some other hobbies so you don't go insane. I spent most of the last 6 months in a cast from a broken arm, just now getting back on the trails and it feels absolutely incredible. Remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I broke my femur, pelvis and a buch of other stuff a couple of years ago. For some reason, I listened to my doctor and didn't try to rush the recovery. My recovery took longer than I expected (ahead of what the doctors quoted), but everything healed correctly. I was dangerously slow and weak when I got back on the bike, but was back up to normal speed in the matter of a month or two.

The best part is your hunger and desire to ride will be peaked by the time you are able to get back on the bike.

    Hang in there.

aahhh - just went back to page 1 to read the update.

I have mixed feelings about your ankle issue. Torn = not good, but for the 'spacing', mine has been off since my accident as a teenager. One side is touching, the other side is as much as a 1/2" If he can fix it now, guess that is good. Surprisingly enough, my right leg is MUCH stronger because of all the physical therapy through the years. I can not drop my right ankle much at all, but I do not feel any difference in my balance, as I've adapted. I've been riding horses and for 20+ years and mtn bikes for 3+ years with little or no trouble. Heels don't even bother me, and I don't think you'll be wearing yours again anytime soon ;)

The human body is an amazing thing and you will heal and be as good as new in no time!
