Nice pics, Gene. Did you have a wild bear take the photo of you sitting there by the fire? If so, cool.

Nope, used my cooler and 10 sec timer. I have a ton of pics of my ride the next day. More single track and turn by turn navigation. Here's the route on Geoladders with pics.
    http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?sport=1&route=22548

There's 78 nav pics to view and 24 gallery shots of the trails I rode on Monday. You'll need an account on Geoladders to view the route and pics though.

Hi. This was my first STR ride and I have to say it was an event. It was great to finally meet people after lurking for way too long on the STR site. You see I have been in and out of neck surgeries for the last few years and just haven't ridden nearly as much as I would like. As such I knew my strength and stamina were gonna suck. (And I hate being last!) Plus, like many others, times are tough right now financially. But I told myself I had to get to one of these rides soon or I never would. Well this is the one that I went too. To those of you I met, it was a blast. To those of you I shared the fire pit laughter with, thanks. For everyone who encouraged me on the 2 mile hike (at least for me, that's how the ride started!) on Saturday, thanks. Between the Meadow view and the ride down Exfoliater it was sooo worth it!!! To my gracious camp mates David and Kelly, Thanks, you were too kind, and those pepper/chicken/bacon mini skewers were fantastic!.

So to the STR family, thanks. It was cold and exhausting and I can't wait to do it again.

    Till the next ride....

Thanks Gene! It was a great day (although I don't know why I was with the A group) but next time if it's warmer I'm camping.

Thanks everyone who posted all the great pics. Sorry I didnĀ“t get to ride and with and meet more people but a  to the few I did.
I thought I would post a quick trail update: All the spring challenge trails have now been cleared of trees and a lot of brush cut back of of Mirkwood.
There will also be a race pre-ride tomorrow starting at 10am at the parking lot, though weather-wise last weekend was a winner, as it is 38 degrees and raining at the moment.
Hope to see some STR peeps tomorrow:)

Looks like a fun day of trail riding. Next time you are in the Hurkey Creek area, be sure to take a spin on the Thomas Mountain/Ramona Trail loop. A nice dirt road climb followed by a sweet single track decent.

    Cheers!
