Anyone know who took out the super fun easy ladder jumps at hulda crooks? Any plans to built dirt versions or relocation of the ladders?
In short - no. It wasn't the city - and no-one's admitted to doing it. My guess is that it was a disgruntled hiker or misguided biker trying to keep things under the radar. When I was riding yesterday, I saw a few broken pieces of wood that suggest they weren't just removed, but destroyed. There's quite a bit of discussion on the topic over at the Hulda Crooks MTB Facebook group. I miss 'em too.
went there yesterday to ride and i notices it too. i wanted to practice on my jumping skills. i suck at it. LoL. seems like all is gone except for the ramp that is off to the side of a hill, right before the jedi. side note. also, saw a sign where the map is saying that there's a Super D contest on May 20. AWESOME!
I noticed the two before Four Corners - the strange "railroad tie to hole dug in the middle of the track" about halfway between Four Corners and The Jedi - and the one in the middle of the trail about halfway up The Jedi. Basically all the wooden jumps that were either in, or right next to the main Scott Canyon trail. I don't think they went after anything off of that main trail.
Man that sucks never got a chance to hit them! Anyone have an easy way to figure out what the trails are called lol. Only been out there twice and i would like to hit all of the trails there!
That's too bad.....I've riding a lot at Hulda Crooks and those ladders were super fun.....but I have to admit when I first saw them right smack dab in the middle of the main trail I figured it was inevitable that they would be taken out.....they really stood out and no effort was made to place them in a more "secret" location....o well....
Here's a good map: http://huldacrooks.com/trails/index.php @OG: Wow, just wow... Either irritable hikers or punk-ass kids. Either way, that really sucks. A lot of work has gone into that place lately, sorry to see it taken apart like that.
Exactly. It was almost as though the guys who put them in were trying to pick the worst place they could find to put them.
I'm actually relieved by the news it was not the city. When I saw them gone, I thought this was the beginning of some major neutering of our wonderful little playground. Here's an idea...maybe rejuvenating return of the Jedi and put some similar ladder jumps back there?
talking about the main trail, I know some people trying to beat each others time going down Jedi and it part of the "Main Trail". And they even took the little signs I understand the jumps cuz it's in the "MainTrail" but the signs?
